  • Trouble codes are getting the best of me

Alright. I'm actually Doc's little bro, my account hasn't been approved yet. But my 2000 Camaro 3.8L has the SES light on, went to AutoZone and got these errors:
    -DTC P0141 HO2S Heater Performance Bank 1 Sensor 2
    -DTC P0153 HO2S Slow Response Bank 2 Sensor 1
    -DTC P1133 HO2S Insufficient Switching Bank 1 Sensor 1
    -DTC P1153 HO2S Insufficient Switching Bank 2 Sensor 1
-DTC P1518 Electronic Throttle Module to PCM Communication

The first 4 are various oxygen sensors, we have no clue which ones, and the last one is what? That just seems like a problem waiting to happen to me. I got the car almost a year ago, and since the job market sucks, I've rigged up my own exhaust dump right behind the cat, and I'm assuming that might be one of the issues with an o2 sensor. And the OBD reader called the last one, an "Throttle Actuator Control Module" with a performance error. The only car I've really worked on had a simple throttle cable... I'm baffled here. Any help?

Bank 1 sensor 1 is the one in the drivers side manifold
Bank 1 sensor 2 is the one after the cat and
Bank 2 sensor 1 is the passenger side manifold
and im assuming the last one is the throttle position sensor in the throttlebody(not positive)

as for why all the codes are coming up im not really sure. Is the car runing bad?

Definitely not. It's running like a champ... It just bothers me. But now I can check the first few...

And by driver/passenger manifolds you mean the exhaust manifolds? Not the ones on the back of the block??

yea their in the exhaust manifolds, seems like something to do more with the connections to the pcm they all seem to have trouble responding to the pcm along with the tps but i really dont know lol sorry just guessing

So maybe connections? I dunno but it seems to be murdering my gas mileage.

im really not sure someone else on here will be able to help out more but yea if your getting bad gas milage it could be your o2's, but also if there not working right the same might happen im not sure lol. I'd see what everyone else has to say

Buy a scanner and check the O2's , or your TB is messed up maybe the maf which would run it rich.

I'm not too worried about the o2's. I'm checking them tomorrow, but the TAC bothers me. I don't even know what it is... And my Chilton manual doesn't mention them either

Don't know the newer TB's , I know on the cable driven we have Maf, IAC, and TPS.

The only explanation I've been able to find basically said the TAC is an electronic throttle cable. So does that mean I should look at the MAF, IAC, and TPS?

Re: Trouble codes are getting the best of me

That would be TPS (throttle positioning sensor) if it would be on a cable driven , maybe the sensor is not opening as much or is opening too much so its out of wack. This is why I like the cable style TB's easier to fix and find the problem, good luck. IAC is Idle air controller but your idle would be high ,so you would know if it was that.

Re: Trouble codes are getting the best of me

My idle's about 900 right now, says the gauge. So I don't think that's it... And I didn't look into the car enough to know that it was an electronic TB instead of cable driven. I'm just a young'un :P

Edit: Actually, come to think of it, the idle has been acting up recently.

How would I go about checking the TPS/IAC? I don't want to buy parts that won't fix anything...

the tps is a sensor rivet'd on your TB with an electrical harness attached to it, i don't think its your tps, because if it would be then your car would be acting really really weird, but should you decide you need another one you will have to replace your entire throttle body.

That seems reasonable... Pretty safe bet on MAF or IAC then yeah?
