  • Air bag light + SES Light

Car: Silver 2000 pontiac firebird 3800 A4 Base

Problem 1: air bag light is on after an attempt to change out the turn signal switch. Prior to doing this I had disconnected both sensors, and upon finishing I had reconnected all sensors. The only thing that i think might have done it is that i accidentally broke the connector on the steering wheel that hooks directly to the airbag, but it still plugs in the yellow plastic was just cracked, and the wires and connector seem fine.

Problem 2: SES light for code P0125: Coolant temp is always low (the powertrain control module verifies that the engine is at a proper operating temp.)
Then it tells me to check coolant level, replace ECT sensor and T stat, all of which I have done. Any ideas?

    THANKS!!!!!!!!!!! A LOT!!!!!

ses light? not check engine? most readers can not read ses lights only check engine lights... my ses light however is on in direct result of my airbag light being on...

Re: Air bag light + SES Light

On mine I took out the air bags and no air bag light to my surpirse or SES lights. In 2001 I hit a old person doing 45 mph who turned in front of me , before I hit them I swerved so it didn't hit directly. At the time i thought it was because of not hitting directly but now I think my air bag module never worked, since I don't get the light on. I took the fuse out from the drivers side fuse box and its stays off. Good for me but bad if I got in a acident.

problem 1: Pull the air bag fuse and check it and put it back in.

problem 2: try a new ECT temp gauge, might be faulty.

There has to be some other problem that's why i'm coming on here i know that the things that I replaced it with were functional, it's not that. The air bag fuse is fine i removed it and checked it before i worked with the air bag, and put it back in when I was done. I'll disconnect the battery again and see what happens, and i got the PCM scanned at autozone, they said that the SES light could be because there is an air bubble in the fuel line or something.

Autozone guys don't know what their talking about ,I wouldn't ask for their advice or buy anything they recommend. A air bubble in the fuel line is pretty funny, but its BS. The air bag is part of the BCM so their is no way to pull a code from it , maybe check the BCM or check your air bag module in the center console to make sure the connections are on tight and its ground is still tight. Also check the grounds up front by the radiator their 1 on each side.

what code does the airbag system have?
The code will tell what part of the system to check.

Sounds like you broke the clock spring.

no code for the air bag, or at least I don't know how to read it. The air bag is on. I made the SES light go away, that's fixed. My main problem now is the airbag thing, and i'm thinking that i will need a new connector. it's the yellow one that connects directly to the airbag itself.

Why not just solder the wires together and by pass the connector.
Be sure and slide heat shrink over the wires first so the bare spots will be insulated when done.
I wouldnt trust crimp connectors to save my life in an accident.
be sure and disconnect neg(-) battery lead first.

I might still have my connector off mine , I'll check , if so just pay shipping , but if it still stays on your module is bad ,that is located on the center console. After I took out both air bags, fuse and the module my light stays off.
