  • false/rich knock

Alright so I took the car out for a few scans tonight and I am getting this random a$$ knock in the same cells. But it is only in 1st gear. Since I installed the walbro I have been fighting this thing to get the AFR out of the 10's. Have any of you guys gotten knock from running PISS rich? I also adjusted my BOV so I am seeing a little more boost(it was opening under boost) so that could be another explaination.
I have also heard of some wraping their knock sensors in dynomat to help with the false knock. Could be a good fix considering im sure the PD causes a lot of false knock.

This is why I desentized my Kr sensors for the last 9 years.

how do u desensentize? is that something in hptuners? i remember from my lt1 s10 days that people would switch to lt4 knock sensors. of course they didn't have hptuners support.

He is talking about physically wrapping them in sound deadening material.

I did mine with resistors , they have worked great the last 9 years. I have posted the diagram before, FireBirdGT will have the instructions and program on his site.

dynomat is not a bad idea. Id still like to know if I was getting actual knock.

How much KR are you getting? Resistors are the safiest way it with still running KR sensors, they still report KR but are toned down alittle. I remember when I ran the PD I thought the vibrations from the PD unit where causing KR. The resistors helped out alot.

I see some in wierd places steve. Like 3-4K around 35-45mph is a pretty strange spot(Like 2 KR) and then around.80 and.92 4000-5500I get a slew of it. 3* 4* 5* basically in that corner.

Most likely false, how much timing are you running and whats the temp outside?

If its only 40 out you should be able to run at least 13 degrees , I would say your getting some false KR.
