Ever since I have had my new motor in and run it will shoot straight up to max knock count (currently 20 counts) then after 30-70 seconds the knock dissipates to zero and idles fine. While the car is idling the with the 20 kr, the car pulls timing down to -5. Then after the knock dissipates the car runs perfectly fine. This is causing major headaches in tuning it. I can't tell while driving it if the random KR spikes to 20 are real or false knock. I have also noticed that KR will have a vertical drop if I disconnect the MAP sensor. I leave it unplugged and 0 KR, I plug it back in and start and there is the instant 22.4 counts of knock. I removed the MAP sensor and it was coated with gas. The fuel pressure regulator has about 10k miles on it. I am going to remove the line soon and check it for gas. I have now replaced the MAP sensor and fuel pressure regulator, problem is still there. The terminal for the MAP sensor is grounded at the terminal. The other terminal in the connector has the correct 5V out. The middle I do not know what to check on it.
I have had the ICM tested and it works fine. I have tested continuity on each knock sensor. I have replaced the Camshaft Position sensor, MAP sensor, and fuel pressure regulator. I have checked all spark plugs to wire connections. I do not have audible knock. I have had a Snap On scanner on the OBD-II port with 0 misfires on all cylinders. I also saw somewhere where it said "Camshaft signal" with a "NO" next to it. I have tested continuity of all wires on the sensor and it all tested fine. Car is reading a P0341 camshaft sensor performance code. So lost............. anyone have any ideas? Im out.....
