  • pulling KR = slower??

    i ran basically the stock tune and ran 13.1@104 (on a 2.0 60')..i looked in HP Tuners and saw about 11* of KR at the very top end in the bottom right corner..so i pulled about half of it to see the difference..i then ran 13.2@102 ..i looked again and saw the same amount of KR..so i pulled about half of it again and ran 13.5@98 ..i looked again and now it was down to about 5* - 6* ..so then i put it back to stock again and ran 13.2@103..i thought getting rid of KR was supposed to make you faster..so whats the deal with me?..is it possible these are false readings??..thanks!

    also..im not getting any misfires or any codes or anything..so..am i fine just leaving it as is?

    How did you get rid of the KR? Retarding the timing?

    Also, was this all on the same day? You may not be consistant enough to run exactly the same ET every time. Maybe would've run those times regardless.

      maybe..but going from a 13.1@104 to a 13.5@98 is pretty inconsistant..only thing i could think of was maybe just cuz my engine was hotter..i still have to disect the logs a bit more

      and yeah i just pulled timing from the cells i was getting KR in when i looked in the histogram under spark retard..like i said just on the very top end

        if you pull timing & your still getting KR there are other issues that need to be sorted out...just because you pull timing in a bunch of cells doesnt mean you'll go faster...timing is your main source of making power so the more you pull generally the slower you'll get...on top of that its pulling even more timing because of the KR.

            damn..so what is the harm of just leaving the KR there?..just too much advanced timing?..i couldnt add more fuel because my injectors are already topping out at 83% duty cycle..i need bigger injectors! .....again!

              you dont know if you need larger injectors until you get a w/b on it...why not go to ttp for their next dyno day...pay your $40-$50 and check the a/f on the spray? The reason I say this is because I thought i was out of injector too until i took off my cat and was able to get a real a/f reading...now im at like 16mv at 6000rpms which gives me more then enough room to work with...thats at 11.7:1 a/f fwiw.

                  they are located in northern nj..about 130 miles from you...not sure of a closer place to be completely honest... but in comparison its only like a full tank of gas & $50 and a couple of hours of your time compared to what most places charge for 3 runs of like $100+...and you get to hang out with fellow fbody owners and eat food all day [img]smile.gif[/img]

                      your kr sensors are probably not going off for no reason. Kr = detonation = a messed up motor im sure the only reason yours may not be messed up yet is because it is a forged motor but if you keep it up I would not be surprised if it lets go

                        yeah i wouldnt have even tried this without the internals..damnit..i gotta get this thing on a dyno ASAP..cuz if i get rid of ALL the KR..id be running like 14 flat on a 175 shot!! ..how can that be??..i mean i know probably all of the juice isnt making it to the motor..but damn!..well..im racing this weekend and 7/9 for the Albany area meet..then im not racing till i get it on a dyno..if i dont get it on one before then..its probably a mix of just plain KR..and KR cuz i may be running lean on the very top end (about 83% duty cycle)..i probably do need more fuel..but if i ask for it its gonna just increase the duty cycle anyway..i think i just need 36# injectors and a good day on a dyno..oh well..at least now im spending money on doing it right :D

                        by the way..about how much KR do you think 107 octane race fuel would take care of?

                          i have had my injectors go to 100% and I didnt even see 1/4 of the kr you have i may of hit 1 deg 2 max your hitting 11 (thats your max kr because your intense tune lowered the max kr so now the motor cant even pull more timing if it needs it) you are lucky if dont hurt your motor if you keep spraying it the way it is

                            but im running on the stock PCM and the max KR is 11* ..should i increase it? ..also..should i ask it for more fuel then too even though the injectors hit 83% duty cycle (only at the very top end)?

                              I just got my DHP PowrTuner, and on my totally stock PCM the max KR is 11°.
