Anyone here try one of the Intense PCM tunes? Just curious. I thought it would be a start at least, and it's cheaper than HP for right now for me.

yup..dont bother..the standard one is worthless..you could get a custom one for your applicaton for something specific you need though..but you're still going to need something to flash it onto your PCM

Personally I would just spend the few extra bucks for hptuners & invest in yourself. On a side note "Horsepower costs money ..... ....How fast do you want to spend?"

isnt it supposed to be how fast do you want to go? not how fast do you want to spend?...just doesnt sound right...maybe im nitpicking?

Yes, V6 has the sig right Well, I need the tune pretty bad, and I think I would just screw up my car royally with HP. I am a computer tech, not a programmer. They just pull the correct year of PCM off the shelf, and custom tune it to your modification list you send them. A $100 core, so you send the old one in after you install thiers. Total, after core refund, about $180.

how many powerdyne supercharged fbodies do you think they've done? Odds are none...you'd probably have just as good if not better luck then they will tuning it the first time around...with mail tunes its always recommended to get the tune, scan it, dyno it with a w/b a/f then send it back for final adjustments...so your easily talking about 2-4 weeks with no computer/car and a bunch of shipping charges.

yeah see if its a custom one you really need id say go for it..their standard NA one sucks..since its an actual PCM they're sending instead of just a file you wouldnt need any software to flash your PCM so thats good too

but unless they use her pcm she'd need a case learn which is usually $75-100 from the dealer unless you know someone that will do it on the cheap with hptuners ;)

I agree with foff 100 percent, but if you are going to get a mail order tune, dont get one from intense. My brother bought their standard pcm for his GTP, and it was pretty bad. It tried commanding way to much timing. So I can only imagine how off their tune would be for your application since they cant get their specialty right.

so have I, I know thats what james is running & right now they are running a special so it would be a good time, but like I said mail tunes are rarely a one and done type of thing...I looked into it nearly 2 years ago when i was about to do my heads/cam swap on my 98 Z28...tsp basically said I'd send them my pcm they would tune it for $xxx.xx I'd install it, get dynoed with an a/f readout, send them back the pcm so they can finalize the a/f and then they'd send it back to me...now mind you how fun it is to take out the pcm's from our cars multiply that by 2 + 2 installations + ~$100 for dyno time with w/b + the amount of the tune + not having a computer for either a very long time or having to spend $50 on overnight shipping charges...hmmm starts to add up to what hptuners would run ya.

Yah, I guess your right. I do have a spare PCM, but it's marked as a 2000 it was supposed to be a 99, so I don't know if its usable, except for a core.. I heard about the Texas Speed sale too. I emailed them my mod list and am waiting on thier reply...
