I am going to be buying a HP tuner soon and I was wondering if I should spend the extra 150 for the Enhanced IO, and the extra $ for the pigtails what are they and what do they do? I read the description on the website but I didn't really understand it.
It's for reading external analog data into the scanner. Mainly used for wideband oxygen sensors. If you plan to do any real tuning, I'd get the enhanced version so that you'll be able to read a wideband sensor for AFR data.
Wideband oxygen sensors are more accurate across the entire range than a narrowband (stock) sensor. Tuning with a narrowband is foolish because it's totally innacurate at anything other than 14.7:1. Probably the most popular one is the LM-1 or LC-1, but there are others out there.
Originally posted by Matt G: if i bought the LC1 could I hook it up to the pigtail connector that comes w/ the HP Tune and take realtime readings from my laptop?
Yes, if you have the enhanced version of HP Tuners, that's how you do it.
cool.. so i don't have to spend extra money to get the handheld output.. thanks for the help.. I am sure I will have more questions once I get my tuner in the mail
