I’m going to have Eric tune my car for my 4.10s that I’m getting installed in the next couple months, and I wanted to know exactly what he should do. I already have the speed limiter set to 180, does he have to set my shift points at all, or can he just type in “4.10” or something and the computer sets it’s own shift points? I really want to get the most out of the gears, so is it as easy as I thought, or does he have to play w/ the shift points? Thanks!
BTW, Eric are you still going to tune my car for the gears?

the computer will adjust all your part/wot shift points automatically...this will get it pretty close but they still might need to be adjusted at least slightly.

foff667, is right. If you can't figure out the gear/tire size you should have someone else do it for you that knows what there doing.

It is pretty straight forward if you have hptuners... read the help section tells you exactly what to do, same with the boards and I bet 1-2 searches here.

Help file? Go to Speedo...it says right there how to calculate it TIRE/GEAR...use the calculator provided in the program. Put the new number in the slot provided & hit commit...any schlub on the short bus could pull that off.

HPT says 7.4 (because the STOCK TUNE IS OFFF)
26.1" for 235/55/16 = 26.1 / 4.10s = 6.36
we'll use 7.4 - 7.6 for 3.42s
and "6.16 - 6.36" for 4.10s
there ya go
who says the stock tune is off? Who says 6.36 is off? Read the rest of the post on FTV6 that I made & you'll be better off. This is common knowledge that there are going to be slight differences in tire height from one manufacturer to the next. If your so worried about such a minute difference find out your "Actual" tire height. For me I'll put in the figures within a couple of tenths of an inch & not worry about it too much. FWIW my gtp with my figures is within 1mph of every speed sign I've driven by.

Originally posted by slow6: yea, I checked TIRERACK.COM and I physically measured the tire. 26.1"
doesnt mean that it is always that measurement exactly.
I assume tire pressure and treadwear will affect this as well...
