People change over to the 97+ ecm for that exact reason.

DHP Powrtuner will work with your 96, and HP Tuners works with the 97 which is an easy swap. For more info, search the Tuning forum. Moving there now...Matt

DHP all the way it let me tune my 96 for the supercharger and yes the 96 and 97 ecm plugs match
