I think a 2001 would work in a 2000 but I dont really know, thats just my guess.

I am able to get the files for my customers for free.... but if anyone is interested I have access to the database and can input VIN #'s to find out changes made to the PCM file for that specific VIN (just pm me or post it in another thread in this section)

I work with a company called Ultimate Welding out of Round Lake IL (www.ultimatewelding.com the site is in need of a major update) I also support a mailbu site and make parts for late model N-bodies (www.unitedmailbus.com)

I have a commercial tuner by way of DHP and have access to GM tech info as well. I can tune any and all 96+ GM v6's and will have 4 cyl support soon and hopefully one day GM v8.

dude, cmblack13, you have to have HpT or DHP to read the .bin stock tune file that he has if he's gonna send a tune in .bin format or whatever. sorry

sorry we hijacked your thread too.

                email sent

BTW- i am not sending you guys the new files, just letting you know what GM figured out needs/has to be done. I only give the new file to my customers (sorry)

If you are a DHP user then you will already have an up to date file

so with those codes i would just plug those into my HPT if i had one right? I plan on getting one soon and also what is the point of a Dyno? Do they tune your car whenever they dyno it or what?

                          Re: Question about PCM??

I didnt send any "codes". what i sent was a list of things that were changed by GM for your PCM after the original file was made by GM... DHP users by default have no choice but to use a current file for their cars since their database only contains current files and that is what dhp sends to you when you purchase one of their tuners.

a dyno lets you run the car at Wide open throttle with a load on the wheels to measure horsepower and torque, this aids in tuning since you cant really go open up the engine on the street (legally)

ok cool! Sorry about the confusion! What do you recommend i do then? Go with a PCM or buy a HPT or Hypertech Programmer and do it myself?

                              Re: Question about PCM??

no worries... I really would recomend that you make the decision for yourself based on the following....

-are you confident in your ability to tune?
-do you want to take your time to learn if you arent?

a boxed pcm will only take you so far.. a programmer is the best way to go for the money... but if you are tight on money and arent very confident in tuning yourself then you would be better off taking the car to a place that can do the tuning for you.

keep in mind that inexperience can lead to more probs than anything else but if you are willing to learn I would suggest a DHP tuner...(this is when the HPT guys chime saying to go with them) sorry but I love DHP and their site has more info and people willing to help tuning. I have nothing bad to say about HPT except from what I see on their site DHP's seems to be better

I would go with either. IF I didnt have enough $$$ for HpT I would gladly go with DHP. a dyno will show you you're AFR so you can tune it to the right AFRs.

Thats cool if you just sent a list of updates. I can go to the stealership and get raped on getting a stock tune if I decide I want it.. probably dont need it.
                                Thanks alot!!
