  • will this work??

ok im having a new motor put in my 98 and the motor is a 99. Now i have HP tuners for a 98 which i know the whole top end on the 99 is way different then the 98. I was just wondering if i can still hook up HP tuners just to remove my speed limiter and fix my tire/gear ratio?? or i cant even do that

you would need to buy the 99 license or do a vin locked license if you have the newer usb unit.

sell the HPT and buy a DHP with 98-02 unlocked and then you can still get like say a 97 or something newer than 02 as your single vehicle option

this would then give you the abilty to tune ALL 98-02's plus all 97's or whatever your single car option is

why don't we all sell our fancy computers and go back to typewriters while we're at it ;)

not even close to being a correct analogy of the situation.....

use both like I have & you'll quickly realize its the perfect analogy to it.

I actually just did, and I have to say that even the owner of the HPT setup liked the DHP more and is a little ticked taht I can do more with mine than he can with his... plus he has to buy a new license all the time for the new cars he tunes and I never have to pay a single penny more.... long story short HPT isnt getting anymore of his money from this point on.

BTW the HPT owner in question is a commercial HPT user so the fact that he was comparing to a commercial DHP unit makes it fair enough to mention...

as I said in another thread.... "Peace"

ok turns out i still have my 98 pcm....he switched my old 98 intake manifold and TB over to the 2000 bottom end...allowing the 98 pcm so still be used...anyways i still have HP tuners up forsale cause once i get the dyno tune i wont be needing it anymore

Your giong to regret getting rid of it, imo.... You probably won't get backnear what you paid for it unless you got it used real cheap. And at that point its worth it for the scanning abilities.

its helped me a ton when other little problems came up with my car.
