on a side note foff - How exactly does the HPT credit system work?

From what I understand, its 2credits per vehicle to read and then 2 additional per vehicle to write, so with 8 GM credits to start, you can essentially tune two vehicles correct?

Around Christmas, I think I'm going to buy HPT for myself now that I've got DHP down. DHP has been very buggy, but I'm working around it - especially with it saving the scans. It seems to not like to do that on the car that it wasn't originally purchased for - it up and stopped on my GTP, i'm the second car on it. Plus I have a few LS1 owners that are friends of mine that know I have DHP and want me to tune their cars, but I have to explain to them DHP is strictly a GM V6 product. If they would pay for the credits, I wouldn't mind tuning their cars and from what I understand, if I can figure out DHP - HPT should be a walk in the park?

My friend and I got the DHP Powertuner for our W-bodies since its unlocked now...and I have another friend with a 99 Firebird with 3.73 gears, 2400 stall but he's never had the gear ratio changed in his PCM. I know I can do it for him, but the DHP forum is catered to W-bodies.

Does anyone know what data I should change under the gear ratio section in DHP to help him out? Meaning what should I enter for the drive sprocket ratio (stock GTP is 1.12) and calculated pulses per revolution (stock GTP is 22.3). I know there is a formula for the 4T65-E trannies, but I'm doubtful that the internal gearing of the 4T65E-HD is the same as the 4L60-Es found in f-bodies.

Hey Fred the formula is the same for W body cars and F body to change your shift points and speedo calibration.

I know that now. Problem is DHP is pending support for the F-bodies, DHP is saying the OSID is too old for his firebird and they dont support it.

Well i would get in contact with this impalamike3800 dude on this board. maybe he can send you the updated OS id for the 99 firebird so you can change it. He had this issue to and when charles email's him his new file you could ask for a copy.

Fbodys are supported as long as you have the latest code revision from GM on your computer

Impalamike is me, well I'm posting under his name at my house. He purchased the power tuner, I own the laptop and the GTP. Mike is a close friend of mine, we live 20 minutes from each other. He is in contact with Charles and they now need my friends VIN number to SEE if they will support it in the database. I know 98's are supported, just none of the drive by wire F-bodies 99-02.

I posted here first to see if the formula would be the same, it is.

I've got a 99 and I've used DHP to tune my PCM. Didn't do much for the stock car though. My buddy ran a 2001 GP GT and it woke his car up .6 seconds through the 1/8 mile on a stock car. I gained .11 through the 1/8

Can you send me your stock .bin file PLEASE. Last I heard from DHP was that they had not finished adding the 99 F-body bin to the database and I should have it in 2 days - well that was 3 weeks ago and still nothing. Before anyone starts yelling bad customer service, the powertuner was NOT purchased for the f-body, it was for my friends Impala LS.

Anyway, if you could PLEASE send me your stock 99 F-body bin so I can tune his car that would be greatly appreciated.

They never sent me a stock .bin. They still never really got it figured out, but they sent me the 1.5 .bin. They said there is a way to return the 1.5 .bin back to stock in the PowerTuner. Just save a copy of it and call it "stock" or whatever, and when you're saving/uploading or something, you can click, return to stock values somewhere. I'll see if I can find the exact words sometime. So what I did was get a PCM from the junkyard for 50 bucks and install the tune on it. I run that when I go to the track. The official service number for the PCM on a 99 V6 Automatic Camaro is 09374997. That first 0 might not be needed to find one though. The junkyard might be able to get me another for the same price, so if you neeeeeeed one, I can try to get ya one, if you pay in advance.

see thats what I don't understand...they even told me his OSID on his PCM was the latest code. How could they develop a 1.5 thats got a newer OSID than the factory? I don't think getting a junkyard PCM will help my case at all.

Instructions to set a file to stock right here

step 1 open the bin file in the power tuner

Step 2 go to the file menu and pick "save as" This will create a seconed copy so you dont mess up your 1.5 bin

step 3 go to the tools menu and pick "reset to stock"

step 4 save and exit

step 5 remember to zip the bin file or it will get corrupted in transit through email.

enjoy, not rocket science to do this.

Remember Fredless is looking for an fbody bin. He dosent need the hardware just the file.

Probably the biggest hold up is the drive by wire system is new in 99 for the fbodys and the bin is a little more complicated.

And Fredless I am waiting for a 99 bin as well and will send you a copy if I get one

He just described how you can get the most current stock bin for the Fbody. Do you not even have the 1.5 bin? I don't have access to the stuff right now since I'm not on my computer, and wont be back at school till Monday. Even then, I don't think I could send the bin without it getting corrupted. Follow the steps listed above on your 1.5 bin file, and save it as "stock .bin" or something. Other than that, I can't do anything. And I'm in the process of waiting on my account to be reactivated with my new password on DHP's forum. So I'm stuck for right now.

The 1.5 bin file is being used by the Powertuner's owner and he has a FWD Impala LS. Again, I'll state the Powertune was NOT purchased for a RWD F-body with drive by wire.

You can send the bin file just fine if you zip it. I don't want your 1.5 file, as that would be stealing DHP's intellectual property, I just want a working, stock 99+Fbody V6 BIN so I can tune his car.
