I am stumped. Friend has a 99 Firebird V6, finally got a good BIN file for it. I have the speedo working perfectly now, adjusted for 3.73 gears.
He has the Intense Stage 1X N/A cam in the car, with L67 crank/rods, comp pushrods, comp titanium retainers, comp 105 valve springs..blah blah - the car is built to rev just fine to the cam's max power range of 6600rpm.
I am setting the WOT shifts in the transmission settings to 6500rpm because I know that the trans will slip a little, so it should be almost right on to that 6600rpm shift I am aiming for.
Now that the background info is out of the way, this is what the car does - gets to the stock shift point of right around 5600rpm and it seems like the transmission just disenguages the torque converter completely. It doesn't feel like a rev limiter, doesn't do that "bam bam bam bam" ...it kind of feels like if you had a manual and you were at WOT, and you pushed the clutch in, and kept your foot on the gas. Engine keeps reving (albeit much slower, but nonetheless keeps revving higher) and the car just doesn't go any further.
You let off the gas pedal, car will shift into second.
I have dug through every possible setting I know to change this.
High rpm fuel cut off is set to 7000rpm
Under HOT, Normal and Performance (even though I know it doesn't have it, I wanted to eliminate all variables) I set the 1-2nd and 2-3 WOT shift RPM to 6500rpm
Under the settings for 1_2 WOT shift where you can set the MPH - this is where I think the breakdown is happening. It makes logical sense to INCREASE the speed to corrolate with the raised RPM's, but I just raised it 5mph first try - still hit that 5600rpm at 40mph and just slips out of gear. Ok, bump it up to 55mph still did the SAME thing. I got on DHP's forum, searched and for what I undertsood, supposed to multiply the stock MPH settings under these folders by the change ( stock 3.42 / 3.73 = .91xxxxxxx) Ok did that, multiplied all stock MPH settings by .91 and input those new MPH values.
Car STILL did the same thing. Ok re-try, just put in 10mph lower settings than stock, car STILL does the same thing.
Went into Torque Management under Transmission. Got rid of torque reduction completely.
Also changed the Max turbine TCC locked and unlocked all to 1200
Changed brake torque limit to 1200
Changed the max engine torque for upshift to 1200.
Reflash PCM - STILL same problem.
Is there anything I am missing here? Recap - all fuel cut off rpm's raised to 7000rpm, no torque management and correct gear ratio configured and the car still will not shift at WOT, not to mention at 6500rpm which is the target RPM.
