other than your expectations for your mods that is right about where it should be. I don't know if you have a manual or auto trans but the 200hp stock is at the crank. HP is always lost in the drivetrain...usualy more if it is an auto.
If i remember correctly....mustang dynos typicaly show less HP than a dynojet.
the only way to know if those headers made a difference would have been to do a before and after dyno run. you know that...i am not trying to be dorky. They most likely help, though. On the dyno you took the car to WOT and high rpms so I am sure the fat exhaust was helping. your car is a '96? It could just be an old engine...but evidently still a strong engine. If you measured it at the crank it would be 200hp or so...right were it should be and it is 10 years old. not bad for an engine that doesn't have an aftermarket cam or aftermarket heads...or anything real major done to modify the performance.
If anything you proved that your powerplant is in tip top shape. it was a good benchmark run. useful data none the less.

no, not at all. GM was very accurate with their HP ratings for the L36.
now ford on the other hand....what a joke. The pre 2005 v6 stang motors ARE over rated from the factory. Ford says those pre 2005 v6 engines have 200hp and they are very wrong and they know it. ****, we all know about their pre 2005 stang GT cars as well. Our v6 cam and head dudes crush those things all the time.
I do blame the corvette division for the demise of the F body...as well as the F body designers that are so hung up on T Tops. (t tops are cool and all...but they have a deservedly bad rap and they are also nowhere near convenient...not like a nice factory sunroof for convience.)
Perhaps if the 4th gen was a little more convenient and if corvette had not forced them to lie about and under rate the HP of the LS1 things might have turned out differently.
Or they should have just made the F Body a little smaller and made it a V6 platform. Less weight, better handling, NA, SC and Turbo options. Think of the parts that would be available!!!!!!!

Like previously stated the mustang dynos typically show lower hp/tq
numbers.
Precisely
The tuner told me to take 158rwhp x 1.3 = 205 crank hp for Mustang dynos. That is still very, very crappy for intake, headers and full exhaust. My car just didnt react to mods like most cars do I guess :(
You could be out of tune. A modified car does require tuning.
Before James at Vector Perf. slapped on the SC he dynoed the 95 1/2 Camaro on the Dynojet. This is bone stock, paper filter, A4 and everything, with about 200 miles on the speedo. The car was new.
He made 156rwhp, I forgot what the tq. was, It might have been 163rwtq. or higher.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
