I just installed a Jet Chip Stage 2 in my 94 Firebird. After installing I tried to crank the car and it would immediately stop. Then I cranked the car and gave the engine a little gas and held it for a second and then let off and the car would idle a little rough then level out, then get rough, then smoothout and so on. I then took the car for a drive and the car felt like it was driving kind of funny. I drove it for about 6 or 7 miles and then stopped to refill my tank with 93 octane gas. After refilling I still had to hold the gas for a second to get the car to remain started and the car was not running any better. What I want to know is did I do something wrong with the jet chip or is this normal? I did have the battery disconnected for about an hour while installing the chip. Could this be caused by the computer trying to relearn everything? Or does it have to be chip related? I am pretty sure I followed all of the instructions.

Possible Jet Chip problem?

Re: Possible Jet Chip problem?
Are you sure it is exactly the model for your year and transmition. Check the serial number than go on to the JET site and look it up. Also what other mods do you have done to your car?

Re: Possible Jet Chip problem?
I found out the problem. When I tried to place the PCM back in I apparently squished either a vacuum line of some sort or a fuel line. Because after a while I could not get it to crank. I moved it out of the way and reposition everything and now the car cranks and seems to run fine. I haven't had a chance to drive much, but after a quick trip around the block the only thing I have noticed is that if I punch it from a stop the car only revs up to like 3,000rpms and the tires won't even spin. I think it is because the PCM and the chip are still relearning now that everything is running great. If not then my only thought is to disconnect the battery again and reconnect and see what happens.

Re: Possible Jet Chip problem?
I felt a good increase when I installed it on mine. IT hepled my auto out a lot becasue it made the shifts firmer, and holds gears for longer. It's not a HUGE gain, but it is decent.

Re: Possible Jet Chip problem?
Well the chip won't work and I am pretty positive it is because the chip was actually made for a 95 3.4l A4 Firebird and I have a 94 3.4l A4 Firebird. I always figured Jet Chips was BSing about the chips are very year specific. I check everything on the chip and it is working fine. I think the problem is just the compatibility between the vehicles. Whenever I removed the chip the car runs fine. It only runs terrible when the chip is connected. So I have answered the question has to whether or not a 95 jetchip will work on a 94. Anyone want to trade a 95 3.4L A4 Stage 2 Jetchip for a 94 3.4L A4 Jet Chip Stage 2?

Re: Possible Jet Chip problem?
It was fine, it advanced the timing so you do feel it. I wouldnt recomend it if you are paying full price for it, because you can usually find thses used for pretty cheap, I got mine for 65 bucks. So I figured why not.

Re: Possible Jet Chip problem?
You know, this kinda makes me wonder, wouldn't it be cool if there was something like the jetchip, but you could plug your laptop into it and make your own changes to it. Something like that would make tuning a 3.4 a lot easier.1995 Bluish green 3.4l Camaro.
Bone stock right now lol!
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2042355
