I'm thinking about getting a fastchip tune for my 94 camaro 3.4. Is this tune worth the 300 bucks? What exactly does the guy tune. Does anyone know how much the gain is in HP and TQ. Currently i have a drop in k&n a 180 thermostat and a catback. I just recently had my motor rebuilt too. Only to stock specs though. Do you think he could take advantage of the increased bore? Anyway i would like to here from some people who have them. I think 95bat has one? Thanks Guys

IMO, if you're gonna do it, only do it once. If you plan on tire size changes or rear gear changes, now is the time to do it. $300 is expensive for a mail order tune and I had no intention of sending Fastchip my pcm more than once. I can't accurately quote horse/ torque #'s because I installed headers, exhaust, cai, and pulleys at the same time. If I had to guess, maybe 10hp tops and that's being generous. I made the mistake of swapping my stock injectors for 19lb's only to find out that Fastchip was unable to tune for the bigger injectors. Mind you that a Fastchip representative (can't remember his name) explained this to me "after" he received my pcm. The first time I called, I told him about my current mods and my interest in stepping up to a bigger injector. I also explained that I wanted the e.g.r. & a.i.r. codes deleted plus the fan turned on early for the 180 t-stat. At no time during the initial conversation was I told that any part of my request was not doable. I sent the pcm out and a couple days later I received a phone call. The representative mentioned above told me that he couldn't delete the e.g.r. & a.i.r. codes plus tune for a bigger injector. So I basically paid Fastchip $300 so the fan would turn on early for the 180 t-stat. I know it's sounds like I'm ragging on Fastchip but I was expecting a little more bang for my buck. By all means, Fastchip is not a problem to deal with. Their turnaround time is excellent and they're easy to contact. The problem is the 3.4l itself. There's not enough demand to justify the supply for tuning. I knew this when I bought the car two years ago. I was just looking for any and all possible performance upgrades to hold me over until I drop in an LS1, T-56, and 12 bolt. I guess we should be thankful that at least one company is willing to try. I'm just glad I kept my stock injectors. Hope this helps.

I believe they quoted $125 for retunes which is a bit ridiculous considering the limited number of things they could change. You're right, it's great that there is somebody out there that can program a 3.4 but like you said it would be nice if they were willing to do a bit more.
