  • Q for 97rs4life

97rs4life ----- I was looking at your cardomain, and I am a little curious about your hptuner mods. Did you do those yourself with their software, or did their shop do them for you? What mods did they change? If you have already answered this question, can you send me a link? Thanks, I'm sure you know how hard it is to find anything specific for a '97. It seems like all of the manufacturers decided to skip our model year.

I have the software and cable so I make any changes that are needed myself. I have removed my speed limiter, changed my timing, removed torque management, changed fan settings for 160* thermo and some other things. Tuning is a never ending process really once you get heavy into modding.

Thanks man. Trying to figure out where to drop my next batch of cash on my car. Your cardomain site was kinda inspiring. Again, thanks for the help.

no problem. any other questions let me know. It took me some time to understand the program and I am still learning things everyday, but it is great to be able to change the tune when it is needed.

If I was to get this upon finishing my mods would you be able to shed lighty on any problems that I might have? Of course, I am only referring to the areas that you have already completed such as changing the timing and the fans for the 160* thermo. Just small things such as that. Because, I really like doing things on my own because it saves money and gives me a since of accomplishment and has me learning new things that I can help others with later on down the road.

But, on the other hand I don't want to waste my money on a piece of equipment that I will have no idea how to use and just look at it as a foreign object for the rest of my life. Any writeups or articles you could contribute for this would be great as well.

a great starting point would be to check out vipers tuning guide that is a sticky here. Also HP tuners comes with a decent help file that explains what each thing is. Most of the things I changed already are straight forward and hard to mess up.

              Re: Q for 97rs4life

Oh alright, I just have no confidence when it comes to trying something new that I am very unfamiliar with. But, your words of comfort and wisdom have made me believe that I can do it :P

I suppose when I get everything up and running on my car, I will look into getting one of these tuners and seeing what I can do with it to my car.

              Thanks for the info 97rs...
