Swapping the Comp?

From what I understand, tuning a 94 seems pretty much impossible. So does anyone know if I can swap in a computer from a 95 3.4 m5 into my car, or is it completely preprogrammed to each car or something like that? Also, if it is possible, can anyone tell me what I would need and maybe even a price estimate? Thanks.

you won't gain anything by changing to a 95 pcm, so my question is why do you want to do the swap? Do you currently have an a4 pcm and switched to a manual trans?

I thought I read somewhere that 95's were tunable. Its so frustrating not being able to tune my car.

nope, you are thinking of the people that swap the 96 3.8l pcm for a 97 pcm. But that is for the 3.8l guys

Oh, ok. So there isn't really anyway for us 3.4 guys to tune our cars? That sucks...:(

If I'm not mistaken the 3.4 can be tuned, but things to tune on it are minimal and almost non-existant. Not very many things to tune, and IMO not really worth the money unless you have saved up and are heart set on getting your 3.4 tuned.

people with 3.4s usually go with megasquirt or a fastchips custom tune. Neither are cheap.

There are jet chips to help with common things like exhaust and intake and things of that nature.
