Over a year ago I bought my car off of a delerships used car lot. I know I have 3 42's and cat back . One of my friends who also has a v6 maro says his car reacts very differenttly to shifts and such, and said my car felt a lot more throttle responsive than his, I was just wondering if there is anyway to easily tell if my car has been tuned or not?
btw I have beat numerous 95-98 mustang v8s ect, iono if that info will help.
1999 y87 a4, american thunder cat-back, 3.42 gears, headers, grey racing stripes, billet grill, 17inch c5 rims
if you had a tuner you could compare your bin file with a stock one from another car of the same year and trans to see if the numbers are different. HP tuners has a compare feature which shows where there are any changes.
I've got 3.42's and LSD in mine and that makes a world of diffrence. I've pulled away off the line on a number of cars that have more power than me. I won't talk about the end result but that will change when I start modifying everyhing else.
Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.
easy way would be the speed limiter. if you can go over 118 then it prolly has some kind of tune, even if its with a hypertech. that would be about the only way i know without using some kinda software.
even with my speed limiter (118mph) i could hit 120 (GPS confirmed).
would going past that speed mean that your car has a tune? not really, someone could have just removed the speed limiter.
if you can't hit that speed, your car could have a tune but the speed limiter was not removed.
all i'm saying is that it is not a sure thing.
you should not try to hit the speed limiter - it is there for a reason.
Throttle response might be yours is cable and his is electric, or vis versa.
It would help if we had years, packages, and engines

It is there for the stock tires that are not rated for higher speeds. If you have tires rated for higher then it is fine removing it.
fine.. encourage the minor to drive 118+ mph... :wavey:
my hp tuners should be in tomorrow.
i'll make sure to update the hp tuners repository with my stock 2001 a4 tune..
first thing i'm going to do with my pcm is to remove the speed limiter and log a scan of my car from a dead stop to top speed.
i'll be tuning for nitrous, so maybe a few seconds of spray in 4th gear will convince me to get my steel driveshaft replaced or balanced.
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
