Hey Ben,
I've been searching around and the FASTchip mailorder seems to be around $350. What's the difference with those prices and the one you quoted above?

Thanks!
he was talking about a complete stand alone FAST system and not a chip

Thanks! I didn't realize there were two different things. I assume the entire FAST system replaces the stock PCM with something that is programmable?
A another question to help flush out this thread more. From what I can tell, the MS system cannot calibrate/adjust the speedo. Is my understanding correct?
There is the F.A.S.T. stand alone system and then there is fastchip.com reprogramming for the stock PCM.
Megasquirt is used to control fuel and/or spark. I believe in most 3.4 installs, the speedo is the only thing left operating off the stock PCM.
By the way SF, when are you gonna run your car at the strip?
Very soon! My 3.73's are in the mail as we speak. I am in the process of moving and stuff, so I am not exactly sure when I'll get it all together, but the fbody meet in NH at the LATEST. I am hoping to get it together and meet up with teal99 and silverRS before that.
I was putting off my tune until after the turbo, but this new gear swap (I was orig going 3.42, but the 3.73s) is going to throw my speedo off too much. I was thinking of the doing the fastchip this summer.
Speedo isn't off that bad with 3.73's, about 10mph at highway speed. I've been driving over a year with 'em. I just can't see spending $350 to correct that.

As much as I get caught for speeding, I should probably have it fixed. Besides, I'm hoping to get a little more out of my cam with some light tuning.
I just saw all the additional posts on this thread.
From what I know running the 4L60E is just in "test stage" at this point. But you should be able to "share" all of the sensors btwn the megasquirt/PCM and keep the PCM controlling the transmission.
And The_Beast, I am running that exact same kit. The $140 one. It takes a few other modifications to make it control spark as well but the hardware requirered to do that is next to nothing(on the order of a couple of $).
Be sure you're good with a soldering iron though. That is an unassembled kit that you have to build yourself. But the documentation is outstanding for the megasquirt. I built my first one without any trouble.
By the way, I just finished my first attempt at a comprehensive installation guide for the 3.4L F-body.
The only one I have for download so far is for the MS-I with V2.2 board but now that I have that one, the others (V3.0 and MS-II) will be soon to follow.
Comments welcome.
OK I have another question. Can I expect to see any gains just from the program, or do I need major mods to see any? I plan on doing the head swap pretty soon, but I just wanted to know if it'll do anything while I'm still mostly stock.
You can tune in more spark advance, even enough to run premium fuel - just like the Hypertech unit. You can also change the fuel curve around to give you the best power. These are things that will give you gains provided you haven't done any other supporting mods. But it will also allow you to tune for and thus get the most out of any mods you do make.
Does anyone have the base maps, etc. that they can send for flashing in the even I do get one of these (so as to make tuning less of a *****).
I can also upload my current fuel/spark tables as well as all the other settings. It won't be perfect for every combination out there but it will get you close.
