98 Camaro PCM Wire Connector Pins Removed

I have a problem and hope that you would be able to help me get it resolved. I installed a Chevy 3.8 V-6 into my 2002 PT Cruiser. The engine is from a 98 Camaro. I had a special engine harness fabricated and a (used) PCM reprogrammed for my application. I recently started up the engine for the first time. I'm getting a P0300 code (Random Multiple Misfire Detected) set. I have checked and double checked everything several times and the code remains. I just read an article by AllData that when you replace the PCM or engine, you then need to do a Crankshaft Position System Variation Learn Procedure which I was not aware of. If you don't, a P0300 code will set. The company who fabricated my engine harness and reprogrammed by PCM removed 18 pins and modified 3 other pins with different wire colors, from the C1 and C2 circuits of the PCM wire connectors. Out of the 18 pins that were removed, there are 2 pins that really concerns me. They are cavity pins 15 of the C1 (Blue) circuit (Serial Data), and cavity pin 23 of the C2 (Clear) circuit (Crank Signal). My concern is, if anyone of these 2 pins are missing, will it prevent me from getting the Crankshaft Variation Procedure done. Does anyone know, or do you have the resources to find out what or where these 2 pins were connected to from the PCM? Does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows where these wires run to from the PCM? Any infomation would be a big help to me right now. Thank you for your support. Happy New Year, Tommy.

why did you get a special harness fabricated?
yes, you definately should do a case relearn using a Tech 2, HP Tuners, or DHP Tuner, etc...

yes, you definately should do a case relearn using a Tech 2, HP Tuners, or DHP Tuner, etc...

I had the engine harness fabricated because I wanted the Chrysler PCM and harness to continue taking care of everything it normally took care of, except for the engine and trans, and the GM PCM and harness to take care of just the engine and trans. So, I sent the GM PCM and engine harness and the Chrysler PCM and engine harness to a company in Texas and they fabricated one harness from the two. It certainly made the installation much easier to deal with. Yes, I was looking at an OTC scanner that has the ability to do a case learn procedure. Still looking around for the least expensive method to get the job done right. I can also look into the HP Tuners, or DHP Tuner. Certainly can't afford the Tech 2 scanner. how does the car run with the code on?

When I start up the engine when it is cold, it can hardly idle and I have a hard time trying to rev the engine. When the engine gets hot, it runs much better. I'm able to get good revs and higher rpms much smoother. I'm currently installing an after market temp gauge. When that is done, I will take the engine up to a normal operating temperature and do a Data scan with my scanner. I'll then post the results, perhaps someone can tell me what looks good and what does not look to good. That way I'll know what I need to look at. yea the pins won't affect your code. I am thinking you have a bad coil or spark plug wires switched or crossed or something.

Do the case learn first and see if it ditches it, but that po300 code is common with people who need new plugs, wires, or coils, or needing to move some wires around.

Installed a fresh set of ACDelco plugs, new plug wires, new ignition control module and coil packs (all three). Checked the firing order a million times. Checked all the wiring from the cam sensor, crankshaft sensor, ignition control module and PCM. The wires are all correct, in the right locations, and all ring out ok. I'm thinking the case learn has to have something to do with it. We shall see. Thank you, Tommy.
