    96 maro 3.8 auto

i installing headers, catco cat, 3" I,S,OA pipe and already have flowmaster dual outlet, K&N CAI, MSD coil packs, MSD 8.5mm wires, NGK plugs, 180* Thermostat

within a couple months i'm getting N20 and my question is...if i were to get a tune now, would i need to get it retuned after nitrous. I'm going to drive 95% of the time n/a so i dont see why i would need to get it tuned w/ n20.

also, i've researched tuning and i'm still lost. hypertech doesn't make anything for a 96 i believe, so I'll have to do a mail in tune, or dyno tune i guess...where do i go to get my car tuned, i've been to a local mechanic and they said my car automatically tunes itself. srry if this has been asked b4 but can anyone just describe how i would go about tuning my car

you can tune your car yourself with hptuners or you can get a mail order tune from texas-speed.com or pcm4less.com

In both cases you are going to need a 97 PCM because you cannot tune a 96 pcm and the 97 pcm is a direct swap. If you are going nitrous then if you do a mail order tune just tell them you are having nitrous as well.

Also is it going to be a wet or dry kit of nitrous?

You going to the meet and greet for mifbody.com in June? I will have my hptuners there if you wanted to see what it was like, I have to change some tunes for guys that are switching gears so I will be taking it along.

yea you have to get a 97 pcm, also pcm4less might have one on the shelf there and you won't have to look for one then. Give them a call or email and they can help you out. I know texas-speed.com doesn't have them on the shelf usually

Yea the meet and greet isn't to far from ya at all. Definitely check it out. I will have my nitroused car there and my buddy will have his as well. So you can see how it all looks and everything then

I think pcmforless.com is like $150 plus shipping and an extra 75 bucks for the pcm charge

yep...i just found that, i kept going to pcm4less.com. It's $150 + $12 shipping and a $125 refundable core charge. I'll prob have to put it off for a while, lack of funds.

the stock tune will allow you to spray a small shot, but to get a tune would make all the difference
                  (and possibly be safer?)

will the differences with a tune be noticeable w/o nitrous as well?

I'm planning on going 50 shot when i get the nitrous

Yes, I would say so, depending on the:
                      1) tuner
                      2) mods already on the car
etc... Maybe for a stock car I'm guessing at 15hp difference.

For part throttle tuning (idle/cruise) you only need your stock narrowband sensors. VE will help get better gas mileage (I hope)

For WOT tuning, you Have to have a Wideband sensor

meh... a 50shot is small IMHO
USD2Sing is doing 2 stages..but he has a built engine and tunes

ok...i listed my mods in the beginning, its pretty much everything but power adders. I'm going to be running 50 shot b/c my engine is stock with 119k miles, its my daily driver in the summer and really do not want to blow it up...i'm not anywhere knowledgable to replace an engine or rebuild one

i didn't know a good tune would free up that much hp

and can I have it verified by other members that this is a PCM?
