Has anyone heard about someone that has modified to the extent of having to need one, on ANY GM 3800 II or III? My setup in the future will have one, more or less because I don't like HP tuners and I don't think DHP has enough to offer me for what I really want/need. Does anyone have any experience with an XFI system on any car?

ok heres as far as i've gotten this far. a complete system (xfi, tranny controller, and harnesses) cost around $3100. you need a tranny controller if your using an automatic. there is no direct harness for my 3.4 so i'm using a TPI based harness and making it fit.

thats about as far as i've gotten

ok, update....i found out this weekend you also need a XIM computer to go along with the XFI ecu. the XIM controls the coils. so add about another $600 to the other $3100. other than that everything seems very easy to wire up. i'll have more details once i start the install

So you have tried installing it, and what happened?

no i haven't tried to install it cause just by looking at the harness i could tell it wouldn't work with my coils...i called fast and they told me i need a XIM computer as well which is about $600 once you add the harness and can module so its on hold for a little bit longer

hey white, DIY auto tune is telling me that I can do timing and spark using the mega 2 V3 with little modofication. He said if i don't hook up the ignition control then i will run only 10 degrees of timing and that will cost me power obviously. How did your car run when you had it all wired up. u didn't have ignition control did you? i keep in mind i'm tuning na now and will onyl be running 6-10 lbs of boost.

yes you can run timing control with MS2...but NO ONE HAS DONE IT so you'd be completely on your own...i did not have the timing to mess with trying to hookup timing control nor did i want to try it and then blow my motor bc it wasn't set up right....i'm going to be running 20lbs of boost so i need something a little bit more trust worthy

hmm well maybe i'll be the first one. DIY says that it is very similar to HAL, but I have a ton more reading to do. White I may be giving you a buzz soon about the starter selenoid having to be re-wired? did u have to do that?
