oh, there is a threat on fullthrottle v6 and in there it says that the starter selenoid unit in the drivers kick panrl needs to have some wires switched? You never had to do this. One mroe question, for the timing is there a program that adjusts it for you, because I don't know much about it? Or do you have to input everything yourself? does anyone have the stock timing table anywhere?
its not a starter selendoid its the fuel pump relay. i never hooked up timing control. to much of a PITA and no one on a 3.4 has done it with MS2. i tried the autotune for the fuel side of things and it didnt seem like it was ever actually doing something. one thing you'll find out you can NOT go off what people say on boards. yes they'll point you in the right direction but everyone's setup is different so if you don't know what your doing DON'T DO IT

my bad, i meant to say the fuel pump relay here's what Turbo project explained on full throttle
When you get to the fuel pump relay you'll have to change some things around.
First of all, the fuel pump relay on our cars is mounted under the driverside kick-panel. It's just behind the foot rest to the left of the clutch pedal.
Normally relays are wired such that they have one side of the relay coil connected to a switched +12v from the vehicles electrical system, then the ground for the coil is turned on and off by the PCM and that's how it is controlled. For some reason the fuel pump relay in our cars works in the opposite manner. Its coil is grounded all the time and then the PCM switches the +12v side of it on/off to control it. Megasquirt is setup to control the fuel pump relay by switching the ground on/off and not the +12v side. So it will take a little rewiring in order to get it to work.
I don't have my service manual in front of me so I can't tell you wire colors at the moment but what I basically did was the following:
I cut the +12v wire for the coil going to the PCM and then connected it from the coil to the +12v supply side of the realy contacts that actually power the fuel pump(there are two wires going to the relay contacts; one goes to the fuel pump itself and the other is connected to a switched +12v....I connected it to the switched 12v side). Then I cut the ground wire for the relay coil and ran a wire from there to pin #37 on the megasquirt DB-37 connector.
When I get to my service manual I can sketch up a simple diagram to illistrate what I'm talking about.

so your stock computer controlled the timing is what your saying? Cause DIy is saying that it will remain a fixed 10 degrees if i don't hook it up...which will obviously suck my performance. Is there a way to hook it up so that the stock computer still runs the timing for now?
ya wire everything up for the injectors and dont touch any ignition stuff...the stock timing sucks and MS timing control is a PITA to hook up and no one has done with on a 3.4 with MS2 so good luck. thats what i've been trying to say this whole time and its why i'm using the easy FAST system. its better and simplier to use

So do i need extra equipment to control timing? Or is the wiring just a pain? there is software to help me with the tuning for timing right? Some defaults at least i hope

Hey WhiteThunder. I'm assuming you already saw my installation writeup post. I still haven't completed the MS-II, V3.0 version yet, but for the mean time to answer some of your questions I have had a write-up on just the ignition side of things for a while that I did when Driver_10 on fullthrottlev6.com was asking some of the same questions.
Basically while the MS-II, V3.0 is being built there are some options you have as to how to build certain parts of it(ignition options and such). That's part of what this write-up highlights. If you're having your megasquirt built you can stipulate which options you want done.
Also, as far as the ignition settings for the Timing Table, I can post the table I'm using right now. It's a pretty conservative table as long as you're running 93 octane fuel. I put some 87 in my car once when it was low just to get to a gas station and it was pinging under load. I'm running 10psi boost and I have a TON of timing being pulled out when under boost since I have a stock 9:1 compression ratio motor.

Please, if you want to go on about MS, start another thread. Im trying to keep this one clutter free for White95 and whatever writeups he has about the FAST XFI system.

I'm finally getting around to ordering the XIM stuff next week so hopefully I'll have it all finished up in a week or two after I get everything. As far as I can tell its all straight forward making sure you plug in the stuff the motor needs to run and ignoring some of the extra goodies the FAST system offers.
Remember this is a kit designed to turn a old '67 Camaro into a modern day EFI beast and can monitor VSS, Torque converter slippage, and countless other things.
