ok so i have the oppurtunity to pull anything out of a late 90's 3.1 auto malibu that i want, ive pulled the heads, upper and lower intake, fuel rail... im wondering if i were to pull the entire harness out of the car including the computer could i adapt this to my 94 3.4 manual to work with HP tuners when i boost it this winter, i know its gonna be a pain in the balls, but is it worth it to even try, also could i just hook up the ecm connector and not run the body control parts, im familiar with DFI but OBD II is a new concept with all of the body controls, ive been trying to post on 60degreev6.com but i cant so this seemed like the best place to post, thanx in advance for the help ;)

Re: 3100 malibu OBD II system on my 3.4?
not sure if it works or not, there was one person trying the OBDII conversion on his car and the shop doing it went bankrupt or something and left him hanging.
If you do find someone that has done the conversion let us know because many people are looking for ways to tune the 3.4s

Re: 3100 malibu OBD II system on my 3.4?
yea i figured this would be a pretty viable option for tuning but i only want to run with the engine harness and ecm not the body control computer and they are connected so ide assume they need to be reused and i dont want to have to get into that. i am going to keep researching this topic however so if i find results you guys will be the first to know

Re: 3100 malibu OBD II system on my 3.4?
yea i figured that but they appear to be connected so i wnated to know of the car would start without the presence of the interior harness and the BCM not controlling anything, i know the car had theftlock so i dotn know if that would affect starting the car or not, i pulled the PCM/BCM so if i can get an uncut harness for it i guess it would be worth a try, anybody who has or know anyone who is a OBD II guru let me know!!!

Re: 3100 malibu OBD II system on my 3.4?
you shouldnt have any problems with the body control modual causing issues my main concers would be cam and crank sensor issuse you will need to get a o2 sim for the rear o2 other than that you shouldnt have any issues just check is the 2 motors have the same sensors and you shouldnt gave any issues

Re: 3100 malibu OBD II system on my 3.4?
yea i was going to get all of the sensors for the 3100 and use them so they have the same voltage/resistance values for the computer i cut the harness apart so im either going to have to buy one or splice everything back together :slap: so the general consensus would be that the body control part of the computer wont **** me over if its not used?

Re: 3100 malibu OBD II system on my 3.4?
yea thats what im goin for HP tuners will have more tunability than megasquirt and a MUCH cheaper cost than fast or DFI so i think it might be a pretty good route to pursue i will keep you guys posted on my resarch in this topic ;) if anyone else has any input throw it in!!!
