  • Maf?

Ok so I have searched the forums and come up with no positive thread. I got the SES light and PO102 code when they tested it and my car is missing something aweful. I read in a thread to unplug the wire on the top of the throttle body and that was the MAF sensor, I did and my car didnt miss. I am planning on buying a new one but will it do damage to like my cat converter running without the MAF or will it damage anything else? In these pictures do I have the right thing? Because thats what I unplugged that was on top of the throttle body. That little thing really costs like $230 from a GM dealership?

Yes, that is the MAF censor. No it wont hurt anything with it unplugged especialy with the short tm of ordering a new one. Ive had to run with mine unpluged before until I got my car retuned cuz my car kept dieing out. These things do go bad from time to time.

Yeah with this thing plugged in my car will misfire randomly and occasionally give me the code for it being bad and it died a few times after going and just putting in the clutch and the rpms just dropped too low and the engine died. Without it plugged in the car hasnt misfired at all, it still does the drop too low rpm's but I believe getting the new sensor will fix that since it just started this past week when the sensor started acting up.

        hell yeah they're expensive

have you tried cleaning it while you have it out? All you need is a qtip, a little rubbing alcohol, and a steady hand...

On summitracing i was looking and they have 2 for our v6's, one was for an engine with cold air intake and one was for without. It looked like it was a spacer as well as the MAF for like $280 I think it was. I am going to get one from GM though from what I read I should have less problems and I dont want to chance it and get to Canada and break down lol.
