  • Jet Chip failure, any ideas?

i bought a jet chip for my 1993 3.4 firebird. I spliced it and plugged it in as instructed. The car seemed slower when it was in there, it seemed weaker and a LOT raspier during accelaration, a week or so later it randomly started rattling and shaking (the engine) i thought it was a massive misfire. Took it to a shop, they said it was the chip, which was making the pcm throw codes like crazy. they took it out and charged me 120 bucks, which pissed me off cuz i coulda done it in 15 mins. the car felt faster after the chip was out . anyhow, i'm thinking maybe i should give the chip another shot. Maybe i plugged it in wrong, or didn't splice it properly? how could teh chip cause that kind of a problem? defective chip? I'm not debating whether or not the chip does anything at all in regards to power increases. I'm asking why the chip could cause such a problem, and asking what might have been the cause. I have a 270 dollar potato chip lyin around and wanna give it another shot, is there something i should do differnt this time? please keep in mind the 93 pcm is different from all other years, it is obd1 . Anyone who has ever installed this chip is free to help out, or anyone who knows about this stuff, thanx in advance, this has given me quite a headache.
