  • Changed CKP Sensor but???

I had the code p0336 keep popping up. The car would start whenever it wanted to. Then it would shut off whenever it would feel like. So i finally got around to changing the sensor and now it will not crank back up. I know i am supposed to do a relearn procedure but i cannot do it if the car will not crank back up. I also checked for voltage at the PCM and at the ICM and they checked out ok.
    1. Is there something else i might have missed?
    2. Is the car supposed to start after i replace the sensor?
    3. Is there anyway to jumpstart it?

    thanks

yeah it should start after you replaced it. will it turn over at all? was that the only code that it read

Sorry. Is it getting spark? Fuel? Start narrowing it down from there. When it comes down to it everything is simple, in relative terms, it's just a matter of finding it. I remember something about someone putting it on backwards, if it's even possible, and it wouldn't work right. Just double and triple check your work.

no prob just wish the battery was the problem. Fuel pump i can hear it working. I dont know how else to check the fuel. As for Spark i checked for power at the icm then i checked for power at the CMP and then power at the CKP and everything was within specs.

well the ICM isnt getting a trigger signal. I replaced my icm with a good know working one and still no trigger signal. Any idea on what to check for the trigger signal?

you need a scope to view the wave form, that doesnt make any sense make sure you reconnected every thing and didnt pull to hard on any connectors

Maybe i said it wrong, but the book told me to pull one of the coils off and hook a test light across the two probes it. It should light up and blink really fast and its signal is good or blink really slow if it isnt seeing ckp signal. I tried this on my 99 3.8 and it blinked really fast so the method worked. Just trying to figure out where to go from there.

well i was checking the wires from the icm to the pcm and the solid black wire that is the CAM POS wire has a short in it. Does anyone know what this wire does or could it be the problem?

Yes, if it is sensor, you will need it for your car to run. Either fix the short or buy a new cam positioning sensor. Good luck.

Ok if your looking at the Tech 2 and its showing the engine rpm of 230 that means that the crankshaft sensor is working right? What does the DIS ICM need to see in order to send spark signal? The balancer off 02 3.8 impala has the same amount of sensor teeth right?

I am still not getting any spark. I am seeing 250RPM on the scantool. So that shows that the CKP is working. I checked for a short to ground and resistance in the ICM harness wires and the CAM POS wire is 1.74 I have these two codes on the scan tool. It says engine coolant temp is -38 deg
. I dont think thats right because we havent even seen any cold weather.
I replaced the TPS SENSOR and the CMP SENSOR and i still am having this problem so i think its the wiring somewhere behind the engine.
