  • Regarding elec. fuel pumps...

Just read this from someone's site where he shows before and after dyno pulls with all the mods he's done...

"The stock pump is rated to flow 25 gallons per minute at 6000rpm. This means at lower rpm's, it flows much less (especially at idle which is tough on a car in the desert). The Meziere pump flows 35 gallons per minute all the time!"

With the added fuel pressure, would the car run rich without tuning the PCM (same pulse at higher pressure = more fuel)? Might just be me being naive and uneducated on the issue, but I don't know if PCM tuning is just understood as a must-have with elec fuel pumps.

Thanks in advance for entertaining a curious mind.

are you talking about waterpumps here or fuel pumps?

Haven't heard of anyone with a meziere fuel pump, everyone with a fbody usually go with a walbro 255lph pump. Which the computer regulates the fuel so adding a bigger fuel pump will not make you richer or leaner, it just helps garuantee that fuel pressure is there when needed.

I feel like a retard. I was reading about elec water pumps and for some reason typed fuel pump, then I reread what I typed and kept going on the fuel pump idea. Ignore me

Read something else somewhere... That the water pump is good for 1000 hours of operation. How long has any of your guys' pumps lasted because I figure that for me to last between 2 and 3 years. Price seems pretty steep to have to replace that often if that's the case. I'd love to hear someone prove me wrong..
And a bit of randomness here... but does anyone know a good place to find Goodyear gatorback belts for cheap?

that lifespan is just a guess. I have heard of guys running them for years with no issues at all. Should last just as long as a normal waterpump
