  • post cat o2 sensor replacement...HELP!!!

ok, I found out where the o2 ensor is, like plugged into the exhaust, but I can't seem to see where the wire (the other side of the sensor...) goes off to...it kind of just goes up into the tranny area. I only have the car jacked up too, which is a pain in the arse. I'd really appreciate it if someone would either point me in the right direction or walk me through it, even with pics maybe. I really need help. I bought a new bosch o2 sensor...also do I need special tools to get the sensor out? thanks

follow the wire. there should be a connector jack. It has a clip into slot where the ends meet. to get the O2 loose, you probably gunna need a breaker bar and lots of leverage

shoot, I think I might have been trying to get to the wrong o2 sensor....it is supposed to be the "right bank" o2 sensor on the passenger side. Where is it located? I can't seem to find it. im a mechanic for the army, and I mostly work on diesel engines which are different. not used to this 3.8 efi. anyways a little help would be nice. and thanks for the respose!

I could swear that she told me it was "o2 sensor heater circuit malfunction (post- converter sensor, right bank)" if this is the case, where could I find the correct sensor? Thanks in advance!

it's on the bottom of the manifold before the y-pipe on the 00-02 manis. I think it may be in the back on top of the pre 00 manis.

Re: post cat o2 sensor replacement...HELP!!!

Autozone or any auto parts store should have loaner tools and they should have a set of sockets for taking out oxygen sensors. The set I used used 3/8 connectors and I just used a regular wrench. You should run your car for a few minutes to heat up the manifolds, it helps with removing the sensors.

Careful not to strip the bungs.. that's a whole other heap of trouble I'm sure you can imagine. As far as I remember it's a lot easier to get to them from under the car.

Getting them out can be a b* if you don't have a lift. I got one out with an impact wrench and an o2 socket. Heating and using wd40 helps, but not much. And don't strip the sensor, that's a weld repair.

Use some anti-seize on the next one ... I'm pretty sure the Bosch sensors already have some on it so next time it isn't so hard.
