  • Pre tune running with upgrades

So I'm upgrading several things.. including 1.7 rockers, injectors, fuel pump.. and adding a turbo. I'm comming near conclusion here in a couple weeks with the installs and I've been looking at the copy of HP tuners I bought and holy crap.. there are tons of terms and numbers with decimals and it's just overwhelming. So first things first, can I safely run my car with the new injectors and turbo without it blowing somethin up before I modify anything with HP tuners? The injectors are 42.5 and the wastegate has a 9lb spring. Would it be safe to do a WOT run?

do not do a WOT run until you tune in idle and cruising areas. You will want to get the injector tables adjusted first of all or you are going to be way to rich. then go from there. Do you have a wideband?

a wideband is a MUST!!! I cannot express it enough about safety first.

Re: Pre tune running with upgrades

heh yeah I don't have one yet but I will have one here very soon, just trying to pick one out. I asked someone before but I forgot which one they suggested or even who it was, i'll be going back through the threads to check. But don't worry, I've already taken out the narrowband gauge that came in my a-pillar pod waiting for a wideband.

So while we're on the topic.. I didn't get the pro suite and I'm not sure all that it entails but I think there was a direct wideband plugin. But I'm gonna have to do something to add a table for my wideband since I've gone this route, what the heck should I be doing about that with HP tuners? Or should I just tune from my gauge readings? Kind of a geuss and check thing? I'm a noob all over again.

yea if you ditch your egr, you can use the egr wire to record it in hptuners.

There is a GP on PLX widebands from EDO performance for a great price on ls1tech.

          I got mine through them

PLX is a great wideband, mine has been going for over 3 years now with no problems.

Yeah I ditched the egr. The thread with that group purchase appears to have disappeared. I looked on EDO's website and they have it listed for 255 http://shop.edoperformance.com/plx-a...ge-p-9167.html

If I were to get that combo is there some way I could go about routing it to my EGR harness so HP tuners could record it while keeping the gauge hooked up? Thinking about it now I'm probably gonna have to splice anyways to connect my wideband sensor to my EGR harness unless there's adapters I don't know about. Am I way off?

I got ahold of that guy, 225! Thank you, he even directed me to the thread where he wired it into the EGR so I'm all set.
