  • having hard time with idle

    im having my car tuned, and am having a hard time getting the idle just right.

    the car sits fine, but if im driving around, and shift into neutral, the car stalls.
    Cant seem to figure out exactly why.

    Check all your vaccum hoses, also it could be because of the bigger valves moving more flow, with my cam I adjusted my idle up to 900 rpms. Stock is around 700-800 rpms. Other than that is it throwing any codes?

      no codes, and yeah we bumped the idle to 900 and still stalls. Didnt notice any leaks

        Have you put in the other M5 file and have you been adjusting your fuel sections on Hptuners? Or it could be as simple as your neutral switch is malfuctioning. Can you send me a copy of the Bin. file your using? ssms17607@msn.com

          we werent able to use that m5 file you gave me because it was for a 2001 and wouldnt flash over to my cumputer.
          Ill see if i can get ahold of the file.
          and what is the neutral switch? Are you talking about the neutral safty switch?

            For the 01' file you are supposed to just copy and paste in the areas you need for your file. Your not suppose to flash another persons file to yours because it can screw something up. The guy flashing your computer should know this. Example mine was a m5, so I took my current file and copied and pasted in the areas that need to be changed for an auto. I think I copied someones 02' s tables into mine then reflashed my computer. Yes I was talking about the nuetral safety switch.

              ill see if i can get the file so you can look at it. I had to leave to go to work. But we think it may be something to do with my throttle body. I hate drive by wire.
              The throttle position never goes to 0% it stops at 4-5%. But im told that is common for DBW cars. The tuner (Thomas) was thinking the IAC wasnt knowing when to kick in.

                  yeah, but we fixed the problem. not sure exactly what he did, but it's all good now.
