what are you running that requires a biffer MAF? Our MAFs are housed in the TB, so to use a LS1, you need to remove the stock one, plug the hole, and place the LS1 MAF and housing somewhere inline between your air filter and TB; the wiring might be abit different though, but you can probably buy an adapter somewhere (ZZP, IIRC has them). As for tuning, there are people who've done it, IIRC, but there are others who are still struggling with it.
you would first need hptuners to tune it. Second it is not the same as the 3.8 MAFs as the 3.8 maf mounts into the TB and the LS1 mounts inline with the intake.
But why would you be looking at a new MAF unless you are maxing out the current stocker with FI or something pushing crazy air. Spend your money on other things first. A new MAF is not needed if you are NA.
its not gonna be NA next week i haave a guy that does my tuning for me at his shop i know the ls1 maf wille go outside the TB and dmw maxed his out so if ihave to pay for a new tune might as well do this at the same time..
I really don't see you maxing the maf on the powerdyne, even if you did it would be very little over, which you would use hptuners add vs. rpm to add the fuel, I rarely saw 37.00 in my maf readings and that was at 9-11 lbs of boost. I know with my cam I saw less on the gauge, but the power was still there. I wouldn't worry about maxing the maf with the powerdyne, if you run it at around 6lbs you won't max the maf. If you run it at a higher PSI you'll end up rebuilding the powerdyne more times than you will want to. So stay at around 6lbs and you won't rebuilding the powerdyne as much and you won't have to worry about the maf.
