Has anybody ever heard of this??? There is a local guy doing tunes for $50 in the STL region on all GM 3.8. He said he is using Power tuners. Tell me if you guys think it will be a risk. FWIW i have a full bolt on, 1.9 rockers, with a 75 dry shot on a stock tune.

never heard of it, but 50$ sounds like a very cheap price, if they are legit tunes i would hop on that

Sounds like he probably just copies and pastes an HPP3 tune. I would call him and get some more info.

is it possibly DHP? For all i know HP tuners and DHP were the only tuning options. He did however call it "PowrTuners" i thought it was a typo

Call him and ask him about the equipment he uses. Find out if he uses a wideband o2. If he doesn't, well.. Unless there's some other efficient way of telling your AFR that I haven't heard of I probably wouldn't spend 5 bucks for his tune.

                Re: power tuners

isnt running nitrous on a stock tune dangerous?...honestly, id just buy hp tuners or do a dyno tune if your gunna be running stuff like that...some mail order tune, or copy and pasted tune can cause serious damage with nitrous...not something to toy with...

When I use to go AZ Dyno Chip would charge me $60 for as many pulls I wanted to do, after about 8 one morning I gave up since the powerdyne was heat soaked along with the motor so I told them I didn't want to dyno anymore. I think that was when I hit 288 HP and 330 TQ with the powerdyne I had at the time on the 1st or second run, it would spike at around 10-11 PSI then drop down to 8-9 PSI. Pretty cool guys, once I get the turbo going I go over and see them again. Only bad part is, it is a 40-50 min. drive.

                        Re: power tuners

yea...500$ here to dyno tune...or $175 an hour...plus $80 to be strapped on...which is b.s...and in that hour you might get what...like 3 pulls?

I think I will find something in the states and drive over the border to dial in my final touches on the tune on the dyno when its time...

that 150$ included my license fee so he could unlock my car in his programmer.. after that initial 150 its only like 75 for new tunes (more boost, less boost headers, ect.)if i just want a refresher tune 1 time a year its free and small changed through out the year is free
