Does this mean its the TPS itself or the circuitry? Cat or something else? Could the TPS be causing the O2 to read bad?

I don't think the TPS would cause a bad O2 unless it was causing it to run rich by sticking and making the pcm add fuel when it is not suppose to. I would check it with a scanner to see if they are in normal range. Or check the volts to the TPS to see if it is within specs, I think 5 volts is normal.

Thats what I was getting at LOL, I just didnt know how to say it. Ill read between the Haynes and the GM mans to see what the TPS tests consists of. Dont know how to use the scanner, other than to check codes. Thanks ssms, you seem to always be there to help :D

          TTT

Damn CAT code came back... Is there something else that caused my CAT to go bad. Dont want to replace something thats just going to die again. And if I remember correctly, when the CAT died on my 99' a few years back, it didnt show any signs or codes that it was going until it was completely out... Thats why Im wondering if its something else...

OK I had to bring this back. And yes I still havent changed the CAT. It runs too damn good to be a bad CAT.

Ive read that the 'bank one' is pre-CAT. Is this true? And if so, WTF do I do? Now way it could be the CAT then (slight poss only)...

bank one is upstream, pre cat. it could be that you are running rich, is there alot of black smoke out of your exhaust?? check your plugs and see what they look like, black plugs means its running rich, and white plugs means its running lean.

No smoke whatso ever. Didnt have much time today so I was only able to check one plug and it looked just fine, no build-up. I take it that I have to check each one...

bank 1 is upstream driversside correct? I had this code. I retorqued all my headers bolts (at the block), y pipe flanges, and the clamps at my CAT. Code went away and never came back, so did that annoying cat rattle:p

i wouldnt think you have to check all the plugs just one. i would tighten everything up and see what happens. go to autozone and clear the codes.

I have the scanner, cleared the codes about 2 days ago and nothings come back yet (but it will). Ill have to investigate driver side, correct? Driver side is where I heard the pop noise and seen the puff of smoke :D
