    Re: tuning for a stall

Can someone post up the transmission pressure table that is stock for our cars...I upped the pressure awhile ago and I want to put it back to stock...I'm having a problem with a lot of my data corrupting (I think due to a virus before I wiped everything down) and I lost pretty much all my previous data...

        Re: tuning for a stall

thank you...I suspect that part of my leaky transmission might of had to do with me bumping the pressures up...

Car should be going into the shop on monday for the stall converter, and with exams wrapping up I can pretty much get my tuning back underway...

those settings for the TCC dont lock the converter during shifts does it?

also, I've been reading about "stall wall" on performabuilts website...anyone know what this might be?

Hey man! I had a leak from the wires going to the trans for the valve body. Could be that the seal went bad.

well, I actually just came from the shop...trans needs a rebuild, the seals were all bad, and the guy showed me the clutch disks...worn down to nothing...new ones are 680 thou, and mine were 380 thou lol...burn marks everywhere....and my band had a couple of chunks missing from it. Tranny did have 132,000 miles on it so...guess my lucks ran out. Wish I had of known before I bought the verter though, I would have got something from performabuilt for almost the same price...I just can't afford the downtime of shipping, and the possibility that they might not have a trans right ready to go for me... Kinda sucks...I hate putting stock parts back in the car when things break down... But at the same time, no sense in doing all that work only to have the transmission fail 1-2months down the road and take out the new verter with it....

Edit: question...I was talking about deleting the Pwm from the transmission with the tranny guy today and he was saying something about plugging the Pwm or tcc solenoid...is that how they do it? I seen on performabuilts website that there transmissions have it deleted, thats the only reason I kinda asked him about it, since I know I can shut it off via hp tuners...

The PWM is the PCM pulsing the lock up solenoid. The only way I see to remove it mechanically is to disable the lock up altogether. Changing the setting in HPT makes it locked or unlocked. The stock converter clutch is built to withstand constant slip so the PCM locking it 50% will cause that. The aftermarket converter clutch is not built to withstand constant slip and will burn up. there will be a bump like another shift when the converter locks up with PWM disabled.

I realize that...I disabled it with the settings your posted and it feels nice and firm...I just thought I would ask to see if he could take it out mechanically as well (I thought it might save like 2 lbs or something I dunno)...but he said something about plugging the solenoid I think either the TCC or the PWM one... but doesnt it need these solenoids to lock up? I dont think that plugging those solenoids or one of them is that great of an idea...?

It's one solenoid. The TCC solenoid is pulsed to give a percentage of lock up. If it's left out then no lock up at all.

Sorry to hear about your tranny, sucks you could of got a performbuilt tranny which would of been outstanding. I know when mine goes I will get a 3200 stall and a level 2 tranny from them.

off topic.....but how much does a stall effect your daily driving? If you have a 3200 stall do you need it to go up to 3200 rpm before you move? because that would suck in a drive thru or something

You would hardly notice it for everyday driving. The car might not creep as much when you let off the brake, but it will still move off idle. It will stall a little higher when starting off up hill. Kinda like when someone rides the clutch starting up hill.

^ exactly...It will feel like a slipping clutch sort of...transmission will not be fully engaged until 3200 rpm...but it will still move at lower rpms.

As far as the gas milage goes...I've read 1-2 mpg loss...I'll let you know if I see much difference when I get the car back...I should/might have it by noon time today...If I loose a bit of milage Im not too worried...I gained 50km to a tank when I installed the cam

well...Im officially afraid of the damn car...the stall makes the car feel exactly how I picture a muscle car driving in my mind...the poly mount shakes the car, which is bareable for now...but holy **** the stall...its raining over here so maybe thats why....but I'm maybe 15% throttle and it hits 2500-2800 rpm and its breaking the tires loose....I love it ...but Im kinda scared of it a little bit to now lol....

Im going to need to tune it to lock up a little sooner, 4th gear locks up higher now then before...I'll start making adjustments when its not raining out anymore and I can see what this thing can actually do now...
