I have a 2002 Pontiac Firebird V6. The other day after getting off the 4 lane, I had to step on it. But not much happened. I ended up getting the service engine light flashing for a moment. (P0300 code pending, random and multiple misfire). Put car in shop and fuel filter was stopped up. Shop replaced it. Driving to work today, it does not have much power and when I opened it up, service engine light flashed a few times and had a P0300 pending code. I used fuel system cleaner and filled up with premium gas at lunch. It still is not wanting to run right (not much power). It will get up to highway speed (70) with not much problem but not much power when I accelerate and rpms go up higher than when it was running correctly. 124,500 miles and I just posted on here about a rattle that takes place around end of transmission and around exhaust. It only lasts up to about 2 minutes at the most when engine is cold. Makes me wonder if it is the cat convertor.

Re: Loss of power, P0300 pending
Original cat. On the way home on the four lane, i got up to 90 before the service engine light came on. Seems to be running a little better with a little more power but gave code P0304, misfired cylindar 4

Re: Loss of power, P0300 pending
you can try switch the coils around to see if the misfire jumps to a different cylinder other then #4

Re: Loss of power, P0300 pending
fogman, did you get this fixed? If so what was the resolution? I just got the same thing on mine, knew it was coming though. It did the same thing 3 years ago but that time it gave me more time to plan to repair it now I'm having to scramble to get parts and time. GM should have come up with different level idiot lights. One that starts out hey idiot this needs to be fixed and progresses to hey stupid your car is gonna break.Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.

thanks for updating, on mine it turns out it was the number 2 & 5 coil pack. New plugs wires and a coil pack and she's back to running. Still feels sluggish but I may just be wanting her to be something she's not.Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.
