Hi, my -oil change- light started coming on at start up a few days ago. It stays on for about a minute then turns off.
I decided to do an oil change today and the -oil change- light is still coming on at start up for a minute and then turning off. After driving around and multiple start ups it still comes on, what gives? Is this normal?
The computer estimates when you need a oil change by you're driving habits.
You need to reset it when you change you're oil. At first will just come on now and then after a while will stay solid (atleast how works in my car).
When you turn the ignition hold down the trip button, you will see the oil change light flash then release takes 10-15 seconds. Will not bug you again till next time.
That is what I have to do on my 2002 firebird. Turn the ignition switch on but don't crank the car. Push down on trip/oil reset button and hold it down until the oil change light flashes, then it is reset.

Shoot, you can do that while you're driving. I do it 3 miles down the road after an oil change cause I always forget.
