They really do make some great boxes, I should get my other Alpine 10" type X later on this week and will update on how 2 of them sound with 750 RMS going to them , I'm thinking it will be like my 2 12" kicker solo barics the round old school ones. Plus I still have my Optima with batt. box in there, PPI 2300am amp, boston acutic GT42 amp and my 1.5 gallon trunk methanol kit back there, so I love the steath boxes, can have the bass with space.LOL I'm still surpised how much bass these type X's put out and how clean it is for the money its a steal, most places are still charging $250-up to $350 , but I found a place that sells them for $208 shipped. I'll post some pics and how it sounds once evrything is installed.

    Alpine FTW!

but putting type x's in such small boxes is crazy, Type x's are made for boxes with more cubic volume than those sub thump boxes

i guarantee if you put a type x in a box designed to their specs that b!tch will sound better than both of the ones your putting in

Not true the type X's are made for .5 to .10 cft. specs from Alipne just like the type R's but alittle more kick.LOL I had my type R for about 6 months before going to the type X and it was a big difference. Add some poly fill and it ups the volume about 25%, so their about just over .80 cft. which is just fine. I had my Kicker 12" solobarics in .88 cft. and they rattled your head with full volume. The less air space the more true RMS you should put to them. The passenger side box is alittle bigger than the drivers side, so I'm not going to put as much poly fill in it.

Re: Got my subthump pass. side box

i cant find any specs, but i know when i was making a box for my 10" Type R it called for .8-1.2cubes, i would imagine the type x would be bigger, but im not familiar with sealed box specs, i like the sound of a ported box

i dont even see how you fit a Type X in those boxes considering the speaker is over 9" deep, but if it fits it fits i guess

my new fiberglass box i made is around 1.2 cubes tuned to 33hz, it hits hard. just got some bose speakers from a 2010 sierra too, those also sound amazing, and better than any aftermarket speaker i have owned (alpine, kicker, kenwood, pioneer, and polk)

The drivers side is the hardest, but Alpine sends a 1/4" spacer so it fit just fine, the passenger side is deeper so there should be no problem, but I'm going to use the spacer anyways. The type R and X have the same specs, I downloaded both manuals right now I have to rewire my sub/subs so their 2ohms each so each sub gets 750 RMS and make sure my gain is at 3/4's and up the gain on my highs. LOL The Alipnes are rated at 24HZ-200HZ.

My review of it so far is that it is loud. LOL I will finish up some stuff tomorrow on it and take some pics if I can but the temp. out is getting really hot here. It is werid though I always had 12's and 15's so the tight bass from the 10's through me off alittle and surprise me. I just need to redo a power line and speaker line and make some mounting holes to secure the box.

Not right now it's about 28?? , since the subs are out and the 25LB PPI amp is out, I have to fix a channel on the PPI amp so I just took the subs out for now, 2 10" 32LB subs and 2 stealth boxs are at 20LBs each and the 25LB PPI amp, so I might be under 2800 :burn: , this is what I will be at when I run at the track ,alot of weight reduction.LOL I hate taking apart the PPI amp though, but its not too hard to fix a blown channel if it is that, I think the connector needs to be soildered for a better connection, its only a 20 year old amp.LOL Easy to work on though, its been modified to the fulliest, thats why its rated at 1400 RMS instead of stock 1200 RMS. I have biger power/ground wires, bigger inside capaciters, bigger input/output transistors. Its a monster.LOL

They are quite nice, esp. to fit a 9" depth 10" sub , can't beat that, LOL. Also easy to take out and go to the track when you want and gives you so much extra space than having a big sub box sitting back there. For the monry their worth every penny, it would cost $300 a piece plus back in the day for a shop to build a sub box like that for any car.

speaking of subthump boxes, does anyone have the dimensions of it? steve how deep is your type x sub? i'm looking to get a type r sub that is 9 1/16" deep and the box i have now isn't deep enough and i want to modify the one i have to fit a type r sub.

actually i'm quite confused now as i read more. looking at the overview of the 10" type r, it says that "At 5 7/8 for the 10...", however under specs, it says "Mounting depth: 231mm (9-1/16'')". so which one do i believe? or are they different...
