I was wondering if anyone knew the size of the speakers that are located in the rear seat area.

    Thanks everyone

6.5 But if you try real hard, you can fit an 8 inch sub. *Disclaimer* By try real hard, I mean cut a big hole.

X2, 8" will fit , also a 6 X 9 will fit, I put in Kicker 3 way 6 X 9' s and the magnet fit pretty well , just had to cut alittle out, great mid bass and highs. Make sure to use some sound deadening material or spray in the open space in behind there, will make it sound better.

If you have a convertible your options are a little more limited.I was happy when I put mine(6" kickers) in until I tried to lower my top! I had to use spacers to get the clearance i needed.FYI

Definitely not overkill if your wanting a sound system, but your not wanting to take up space in the rear with one. There would be a lot of fabrication to it, and a lot of work, but I think it would be a great project to work on. And in the end, if it was done correctly, could turn out to be an awesome system, and an awesome write-up for another upgrade option. As most people limit themselves to what has already been done, and don't look at other possibilities.

That's why we have stealth boxes that can go on either driver or passenger sides. You can have two 12's without taking any usable trunk space.

I will be finishing my 2 Alpine 10" type X's in stealth boxes here soon. I just got my 200 amp ALt. yesterday and will be installing it tonight when it cools down, I have too many acessories and need more power. I'm trying to make it so I can pull the boxes easier when I want too for the track. Running all the power and ground wires is crazy, esp when using 150 amp -200 amp fuses.

I had 8's in the sail panel of my Firebird. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Absolutely agree. I spent 10 bucks on a small roll of R32 from Lowe's, ripped the insulation off the paper and stuffed my quarter panels behind the speakers. I can honestly say that this improved the sound of my stereo and reduced road noise as much if not MORE than the 300+ sq ft of butyl mat and sound barrier foam I have installed covering every inch of the floor pan and sides. ($10 vs. ~$600)

I'd also agree with Wes that two 8" woofers in each sail panel is overkill. That said, the 8" sail panel speakers are a great idea.

                        Re: fitment question

if youre looking for a sub to fit in the rear seat area, i recently saw on crutchfield.com a 6.5 kicker shallow sub that the tech i talked to said he had in his own f-body, no cutting required (although may require changing amp/wiring?)
