I have a 97 Firebird with a bad volume control on the stereo that goes haywire when I turn the knob. Just touch it and the sound blares or goes way down. Anyone ever replace the volume control switch? Thanks.

Re: Volume Control Erratic
If it's the old-fashioned potentiometer-type volume control, you can try electronics cleaner from Radio Shack. The wiper inside the potentiometer can get dirty, causing intermittent contact or static-like/scratchy sounds. If it's the computerized volume control (where you can rotate the knob endlessly in any direction) then it may be a bad connection. You may be able to solve that by re-soldering the joints.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock
