what can I do to make my system hit harder and louder?I currently have two 12 inch kicker cvr dual 4 ohm in a prefab custom fit box with a dubmag audio amp that says it puts out 800 watts at 4 ohms.Would a better amp help out?Do you all think I should build a ported box for them?If so, would these things make that big of a difference.Any other suggestions would be helpful

Re: louder bass?
dang man. I've got two 12" DVC CVR's too, and I can't stand having them turned all the way up, and I'm only pushing 200W Per sub! My box is ported, and it doesn't necessarily make it louder, but the sound travels alot farther. I had my system almost turned off, and you could hear it from outside. Porting it will make it sound better, and a better amp will help. A name brand is always nice, I'm using a Rockford Fosgate.~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~

Re: louder bass?
yes the dub amps dont do what they say. if its the dub that wall mart makes definitly not a good amp. and only port your box to specifications. dont just cut a hole and stick pvc in it. i have 2 12" treos on my system what i had to do was fold down my back seats and put my subs on the back seats and then my 15" fits inside of the well. the only amps ive ever used is autotek because they all do what they say. oh and another thing. if i where you i would get a mono amp and run the subs parrelel on a 1ohm load.

Re: louder bass?
mobilelectronics, could you post up some pictures of your audio set up, maybe in another thread or something. seems like you have a nice system and know what you are talking about. also, could you maybe show your engine bay, and how you ran the wires, fuse block, etc etc.
sorry to steal the thread.

Re: louder bass?
Im running a 300 sumthing watt audison amp with a 10" mtx sub the MZS model...in the stealth box and she sounds beautiful...its turned down...if you want some sweet sounding bass...get an audison amp and some focal subs...also not all bass comes from the subs...get a good set of 4 6.5" speakers and wire em up through an amp...there is a place near me that had 6.5 focals hooked up on a audison amp and these things were so clear and ridiculously loud and bassy it was ridiculous...I actually asked the guy which sub was playin when he turned em on...his response was ...there is no sub...amazing speakers only problem is there about 1500-2000 a pair lol

Re: louder bass?
as for wiring goes i didnt do like a super perfect job i put my system in at night right after i bought the car so its not perfect. i didnt use the sidewall. i wanted to run it right under the pcm but i didnt because i was afraid it may damamge the wiring harness so i ran it rhrought the side fender but it then goes into where the door wiring harness is so all of the wires are hidden. ill post a picture i think i ahve one
its actually centered now and theres another amp on top of the box.
there is 2 amps now one is on the front side so u see it the front when ur in the car and the other is on top of the box.

Re: louder bass?
for the price of focal u can get something better but its all on what u listen to. focal subs were made more for classy and jazz like music. they weren't made to drill. i mean it is clean but u can make any subs sound clean with the right port size. i can make my subs have super clean bass or i can make them drill. thats whats good about mine.

God.. to be young again :D
Back in the day... (you know.. before dirt was dirt) I set up (3) 8W6's in a ported enclosure (because it's not a box if it's not square) with 600 watts of "clean" power (not that **** you pick up in Walmart).
I actually resonated enough to hurt things. Never got it measured, but everyone was shocked it was 8's doing it.
Quality products, lots of clean power and a good design. That's power. :tup:FirebirdV6.com/CamaroV6.com Administrator
