Amp was ok but now wont turn on

Here is the deal--
My amp was working great, then it started cutting out... then finally it isnt getting any power (as it seems).

Ive checked all fuses, wiring, remote wire and ground... nothing is lose at all.

I also just bought another amp today and installed that and still nothing. No power light coming on the amp.

What am I missing? I even checked my wires for crimps or damage.

Wonder if my lights have something to do with it- when i turn the car on the headlights come on, not the DRLs... its backwards- a relay, if i am not wrong.

The signal wire from your HU to your amp may have been disconnected somewhere, or your HU might not be sending out the 12V for the remote turn on. Try connecting the remote wire to a constant 12V and see if the amp turns on then.

And your amps are connected straight to the battery right? If so, your lighting situation probably has nothing to do with this.

Also, make sure your grounds are clear of any paint or rust, it must be bare metal.

I had that problem too. Definately check your ground. I though I was grounded good, but it turned out I wasnt. Check it, and then check it again!

get a test light, test the pos wire going into the amp for power using a good known ground, if it has power then test the ground at the amp. If that has a ground then turn on the radio and test the remote with a known ground. One of those should be your problem

If none of those are the problem, it's possible your amp just died.

You should get a volt meter if you do not already have one, you can get one for under $10. Check voltage at the amp for main power and like others said the remote power. The remote could have possibly gone out on the head unit. If both check out looks like the amp, but I doubt that since you said you bought another amp. All wiring can look good but can still be a bad connection somewhere.

I have power from the battery to the amp- I tested it last night and it showed power (the ground is still in the same spot as it was while the amp was functioning and seems good).

I did more research last night. I guess Ill have to hook that remote wire to another source because its possible my HU's (Apline 9855) remote wire isnt working.

I ended up returning the new amp I bought, no biggie, Ill use the old til it completely dies.

NO idea what is going on... i get the amp to turn off if I touch a piece of wire from the amp pos to the amp remote and i get power from HU to amp remote... is there a such thing as NOT enough power?

I noticed my voltmeter going down when i come to a stop.

Are you running Anything else off the remote wire? Yes it is possible not to get enough power. What you could try doing is getting a relay, and try useing the remote to trip that and just pull the 12 volts from you're main amp power. Cheap enough to try out a relay is only a few dollars.

I use a relay in my car so I will not blow my remote from my HU. But I am running 2 Amps, a Cap and 2 fans from it.

Say what now? Disconnect everything coming from the headunit and remove it from the equation. (RCAs and remote) Now jumper a piece of wire from the + to the remote on the amp. Does the amp power ON? Does it play fully as it should?

It seems to be the remote wire from the HU which isnt telling the amp to turn on. i only got it to turn on with takinga wire and touching the remote and power on the amp.

Im letting this sit on the back burner... ive noticed my battery meter is just showing above yellow so im guessing its the damn alternator and thats more important that my bass... even though i love my bass.
