make sure your ground isnt too long (shouldn't be more than a foot), i had this problem awhile back and it was actually because i had some corosion on my battery terminal so that would be another thing i would check

Where did you ground the amp at and how did you ground the amp?

When i had protection issues it was due to it needing grounded better. Ive also seen where when amps go bad, they stay in protection.

If yours comes out of protection after you shut the car off and start it back up, its a ground issue.

x2 I agree. This is where I would start, especially if it has worked fine up until now.

its grounded to the bolt where the seatbelt to the backseat is help down...I checked speaker wires, even disconnected them and it still stays in protect. I'm not sure if its thermal protect there's a power light and right under that is the protect light and the protect light is the only one that will come on no matter what. It's grounded where my other amp is and my other amp works fine......also the ground wire is only about 3ft long..

im starting to think i toasted my amp?

is the ground on bare metal? Make sure the ground is connected to bare metal by sanding it down where the grounding point is. Also under the seat belt is typically not a great grounding point. If at all possible try to find a better point if at all possible.

x2... pull it and have a stereo shop bench test it. If you don't know what's going on, you could very well cost you another amp.

Shouldnt cost you anything,... this is your best bet.

Bench test it, Ive had many amps die on me, and just go into protect mode... especially well known for cheap amps to do this.

i had problems with my ground and it seems like you grounded yours in the same place i had mine. I would try to ground it somewhere else.

Re: Amp goes into protect mode....

So let me clear some things up. Everything WAS working fine at some point and time. Played great from a few months.... (weeks, years, whatever)... and then you crank it one day, the amp kicks into protection and now will not ever turn on again. Correct?

Use a proper troubelshooting method. It played fine with everything the way it is. Grounds and lengths of wire should be out of the problem. Being that you pushing it hard forced it into protection, I usually think thermal protection. But you say it has never came back since then..... I'm sorry man, but SrrtRacer is probably correct. Cheap amps fry. Yours maybe toast.
