i'm looking into getting a stainless steel/brushed aluminum theme going and I've found a good looking duo from kenwood. the KFC-W2511 sub and the KAC-7202 amp. does anyone know what these or something similar sound like? would these even work together? secondly, whats the difference between a vented or sealed sub box?

Re: boxes and sub question
When buying stereo equipment the LAST thing you should worry about is what it looks like. If you MUST have the brushed aluminum look, eclipse makes some good subs that have that look:

The amp you are looking at would work, but not work the best. You want to get a mono block amp (meaning one channel) for your subwoofer. Kenwood makes decent amps in my opinion (some others don't agree), but there are better. Usually better costs more though. Here is a Kenwood you'd be looking for:

That website has high prices on most of its stuff. It can all be found cheaper elsewhere.
As far as vented and sealed boxes - vented gives you more output with a slight reduction in sound quality. A properly build and tuned vented box can still have great sound quality though. Vented also requires larger box sizes. Sealed boxes can be small, have decent output, and great sound quality.Sinister Six©
My \'95 Bird
I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.

Re: boxes and sub question
If you're building the box, I'd stick with a sealed one. However, if you're getting one custom made by a pro, go vented. I went from a sealed box to a vented, and not only does it sound alot better and hit alot harder, but the sound carries far beyond my car. I rattle the walls of my house with it the volume at 15 out of 50!! And I have yet to have my subs distort (only running them at 200W RMS each though). If the stainless look is very important to you and you want some good subs, then I'd looks for some black or grey subs, and then do something to the enclosure with stainless instead of looking for subs. Only problem I see is that it'll probably rattle like crazy unless it's all custom fabricated. Heck, have someone make the whole box out of diamond plate :D~97 3.8L V6 Camaro~

Re: boxes and sub question
Well, I've built a sealed box for my Camaro, and while I can't rattle the house, I can rattle the bodywork on the car, and that's with I don't even know what brand subs :)

You could cover it in whatever material you want, I just used regular old carpet.
