Hehe, I guess it's better than standard, but it's a different thing as a whole. Only my radio is close to 2000$, output quality is totally different than a 200$ radio. Difference is even more drastic when it comes to cheap speakers & amps. They work, but they don't get the job done well.
p.s. I did installs myself in pretty much every car I owned. My wife's Alpha GTV I also did myself with JBL audio components and an Infinity active bass box. I always thought it sounded great.. until last week when I drove it again a day, after having the new install in the fbird for a month.. I was shocked, seriously, the sound is sooo badly unrealistic. Powerful high bands and bass, weak middle coverage, inadequate frequencies all over the place.
But of course I didn't tell my wife that. She can still enjoy a "very good & powerful JBL audio" ;)
Basically put - if you're not an audio professional, and I don't mean a professional that can attach the speakers and place the power cables - then you cannot do a good audio setup. Like i've said in another post higher, my fbird with it's new installation without audio being tuned and configured sounded loud and ok, but light years behind what it sounds after it was tuned by the EMMA guys.
