I had though about doing this, but it seems that it has been done before. I want to put a small 10" sub in that opening in the back on the driver side. I saw this product and it looks decent. My question is if anyone has used a sub in this location before and how does it sound?

Re: Anyone use a sub in this location before?
I have a 10" Alpine Type R (1042D) in a subthump box in that location. It is powered by a 600W Pioneer amp and I built my own amp rack for the back wall of the trunk. It is not insanely loud, but it gets the job done without losing any space in the already small hatch.
I can provide pics if needed.Last edited by 02CAMAROV6; 11-20-2007, 12:10 PM.2002 Camaro A4
K&N FIPK
Ravin exhaust
15.64 @ 90.11 MPH

_ _ ___________________ _ _
2004 Quicksilver/Black GTO M6
Stock except !CAGS

Sounds like it is decent. I just want a bit more bass, not blow your eardrums out loud. I am planning on keeping the Monsoon system and just adding this with a spare Audiobahn 10" I have and an 1100W Boss amp out of my old GA.
Pics would be nice though.

Yea I have the Mtx version with the MZS MTX sub...sounds pretty good...would be a lot louder if I made a custom box to spec though...But it does make for a nice system and no loss of room...plus looks cool to

It sounds like this setup will suit you well then.
Here are the pics.
My amp rack is not the best piece of work...I could have made the cuts a bit more generous.

Re: Anyone use a sub in this location before?
Yeah I'd like to get rid of my big ole clunky box so I can have somewhere to put the t-tops again. Im not a fan of huge annoying bass.. because its annoying.. So a box like this would be awesome. I do need a better place for my amp though, ugh. I've seen a lot of people mount them to the back like in these pictures, I just wish there was a bit stealthier way of accomplishing that. Heh I got a $150 bass package that sounds amazing for just that little amount of money. I just hate the box I bought for it. I could use the wood from that to mount my amp if I get one of these stealth boxes :) Oh yeah so, where's a good place to buy em? I don't build boxes. I'm more of a metal mechanical not a wood.. measure.. cut kinda guy.

Re: Anyone use a sub in this location before?
They are great boxes, and if you get the right setup in there, you can get all the bass the average person could want. It's not going to win any competitions, but I can tell you right now, that I have about 175W going to a ED 11kv.2 sub, and my amps gain is at less than half, and anything that boosts bass is off on my head unit. I can feel the bass and shake my mirrors easily with the right style music without changing any settings. I have turned it up to about 3/4 one time, and it was quite ridiculous. It was loud enough that I couldn't hear myself screaming and i wasn't even at half volume on the head unit :p
I would suggest getting a 10" that is suited for the box. Something that is recommended for .5 cu ft of airspace. The 11kv.2 was one of the recommended subs for the box, and there has never been a time that i regret my decision to go with it over any other sub.
EDIT: why not? here's a pic.

Re: Anyone use a sub in this location before?
i have the mtx verison with the bulit in amp like everyone else who replied to this its not going to shatter you rear window but it still gives you enough bass you can feel. if you haven't done so already replace all your door speakers i went with alpines it sounds pretty good for about 900 bucks without my head unit.
