On my 1996. Replaced the original Bose radio/CD with aftermarket head unit. Both systems gave a very high-pitched whine (almost a "hiss"). Can't figure it out. I can hear it even when on the AUX setting and nothing plugged in. No amps or other mods.
You can post in the wanted section, otherwise they are available through crutchfield.com
The problem is that with the bose system, each individual speaker is powered by an amp. There are separate amps running the front speakers and subwoofer as well. Normally you won't be able to turn down your volume much (the lowest setting on the deck is still decently loud [for a low setting]). The main thing is that the bose speakers run on 2ohms, and most car audio speakers run on 4ohms, which means there is less resistance in the bose speakers, so the bose speakers will play the white noise that would not normally be heard from the deck. Basically all the adapter does is add resistance so the bose speakers act like 4ohm speakers.
