  • Stock Delco radio displays "Err"

I need help here. This car is only a month old and now it looks like my radio is crapping out on me.

Starting yesterday I was playing a CD when 'Err' comes up on the display and it switches to the radio. I could not switch back to CD and when I attempted to eject the cd it would display 'Err' after about 5 seconds.

This morning when I started the car it began playing the CD. About 5-10 minutes later it switched to radio with the Err message again.

Please tell me there is a way to fix this without having to buy a new stereo.

Well seeing as how they haven't made the f-body is quite some time now.... I doubt this is true. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but trying to prove a point. Things break my man.:(

The stock headunit gives people trouble all the time. If you can't get the CD out, you can try removing it from the car, opening it up, removing the CD, and reinstalling it. Maybe something happened in there....and that particular CD got wedged. If you put another in there with the same results...circuit city installs for free with purchase of $99&up player and parts. Probably $175 area.

I didn't really want to replace the stock radio though.

Weird thing is this issue is intermittent. I've managed to get the CD out. I'd put another CD in and it plays...for a bit.

Maybe I'll see if anyone has one of these stereos for sale here.

I guess I can try disassembling the one I have. Can't make it any worse, right?

I have my old stocker laying around. It's in perfect condition. Came out of a 2000 Monsoon.

Is it the same as the 97 Monsoon?

if its a recorded cd then it may not play the cd just like old stock cd player used to do it only played real cds and not recorded cds so you might wanna check into that

They were all real CD's. I've tried with 3-4 CD's. Same results.

Mine is intermittent. It will work for a bit then come up with the Err screen then work again. It's weird.
