So I put in a sub system (pics later today) and my trunk rattles a lot. It is only audible outside the car. What would you guys recommend for sound deadening material? A friend of mine swears by dynamat, but I'm wondering about alternatives; dynamat is a bit pricey around here.

    Sound sys:
Pioneer head unit with preamp out
    2x Kenwood 10" Parallel wireing for 8+8 = 4ohm
Kenwood 2ch 350w RMS amp bridged
Sealed and separated box about 1cf per sub
4ga wireing to batt and ground (inline fuse 1' from batt)

I've been playing variations of the THX Bass Test song, and it hits hard from 20-25hz :) sealed box ftw. I asked my bro to come over two days ago and tricked him into getting into my car (can't see the amp/subs cause of limo tint) and played Jucy - Biggie Smalls. For those that don't know: the song has no bass during the intro, then hits extremely hard. His eyes bugged out.

As far as installing, my friend says to crank the bass and push on areas that are rattling. When the rattling stops you found the spot. Usually you can figure out how to deaden it once it's found. I just don't know what to use because I'm only getting one (biased) opinion.

GinsuGuy is spot on. Find the offending pieces then wedge something in there to prevent the vibrations. If you're looking to lower the amount of outside noise in the vehicle...

            Re: Trunk rattle

Heh well I've been doing that inadvertently. :D

I found 2 spray cans (armor-all and windshield de-icer) that were rattling a lot, but now it seems to be the rear hatch and spoiler.

              Re: Trunk rattle

Update: I lengthened the two rubber screw things in the trunk (by unscrewing them a little) and the rattle has gone down even more.

Those went bye-bye a long time ago :D

I still don't know what I'm going to do, it seems like the spoiler/hatch are making the noise. Maybe I'll fill them both with foam.

Go to Home Depot and get a gallon of asphalt roofing mastic and paint it on thick.
